There's not much of a story about why they split up... They had been together since they were teenagers in Liverpool. They had been through multiple extreme experiences with fame, success, drugs and spirituality. It was something that was self-destructing, the Beatles had become too small for John Paul George and Ringo, they were four people, human beings... And the pressure on them during For a long time it was unbearable. In the end their personal relationships were more important than the group, including the relationship between them. I am also sure that if John had not been If they had been killed, they would have returned to make music, but that is something we missed. We must remember the extraordinary work they have left to the world.

They really could have fallen apart after Epstein's death. Thankfully they carried on and gave us so much great music to enjoy. Paul was largely responsible for keeping it together but the magic they had required those four lads being on board. They were destined to break up but imagine how hard it had to be to leave a band that had such worldly success.

Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields are masterpieces. But they were among so many others. I think what makes them special is that it made rather mundane places somewhere you want to go to. Strawberry Fields is not a field and has no strawberries. Penny Lane is just an any town road. But their music made them seem magical/special in a poetic way.

In order to maintain their success level they really had to get more experimental and psychedelic. I mean the times were changing so they couldn't just keep on with Chuck Berry style rock and roll which is really what John loved to do. Whatever it was even if drugs were involved it kept their music evolving and kept them leaders in the industry and so influential on culture at the time.

Well if you compare tracks even from help, there are definitely elements taken from the psychedelic rock of the time. Not to mention the instrumentally transcendental tracks from revolver which were undeniably inspired by LSD both lyrically and arragement-wise. Though I would say Sgt. Pepper's is home of their most psychedelic offerings, I wouldn't say 1967 was the only year they dabbled in psychelia.
@matthewhumcke31827 күн бұрын
@@imnotjerry2226 elements is the key word. it's approaching, but isn't really psychedelic yet. you have a good point with revolver (she said she said, tomorrow never knows, maybe Love You To) but 1966 wasn't the year of owning caravans, colorful and crazy fashion, magical mystery tour, It's All Too Much, artwork courtesy of The Fool, painted guitars and rolls Royce. 65 and 66 can have elements and be naturally leading up, but simply wasn't psychedelic yet. respectfully, I'm not trying to be rude. the 1968 music, fashion, mindset, LSD usage (or lack thereof), musical influences, painted guitars that were stripped of paint to the wood, etc are simply not psychedelic at all. not even revolution 9 is psychedelic: it's a pastiche and avent guard; abstract and off-putting. more about the tone of a revolution than the exploration of free love and discovery. strangely enough, it started and ended in '67 alone. February '68 brought us Hey Bulldog (being recorded), Lady Madonna and the inner light which didn't feel like Within You Without You. psychedelia was over. the closest it would get to non '67 was late '66 when Penny lane and strawberry fields was recorded (I think)
