As a doctor I‘m a bit concerned… most people don’t understand that there is NO safe number or limit for cancerous substances, including radiation. That’s the first thing you learn in classes about cancer. The level of radiation that is called „safe“ is just estimated, based on experience. But every time you are exposed to radiation, it statistically increases your risk of getting cancer sooner or later, and every person is different. I wouldn’t go there. But to tell the truth- 30 years ago, when I was young and stupid, I visited Chernobyl 😅🙈 (not Pripyat, just the Chernobyl area, about 20 km from the power plant)

Indeed, there is no safe/not safe limit. On the other hand, we are exposed to radiation all the time. About 30 times more when taking a flight. The Background radiation in the town of Chornobyl is nearly the same as in Kyjiv and other European countries. (About 0,18μSv/h).

that’s true, but the difference is the time of exposure. Our body is amazing and can repair damages in our DNA that is caused by radiation, but this repair process takes time. It’s not the same if you are exposed to radiation, lets say 0,05 mSv over let’s say 8 hours on a plane; compared to lets say 8 seconds of inhaling radioactive dust of the same dose. (very wise of you to wear a mask 😷 in the Pripyat hospital)

@@mathildewesendonck7225 it's actually less than 0,005mSv in the airplane. ;). Yes, the body is capable of repairing itself and it is doing so all the time, endless until dead. But inhaling radioactive particles is on a completely different level. The particles stay at the same place in e.g. the lungs and expose it continuously to high radiation and even without protection from the skin. That is the real danger here.

Tschornobyl und Prypjat können mit entsprechender Genehmigung ganz legal seit 2012 relativ einfach besucht werden. Auch ich habe Touren mit organisiert und selten auch mal mit geleitet. Es gibt (bzw gab) viele Anbieter, welche mit einer kurzen Google Suche zu finden gewesen wären.

@@OnTourWithGerrit weiss ich nicht mehr, war ja noch vor dem Kriech. Jedoch hatten alle YT Kanäle wo sie ihre Eindrücke zeigten. Man konnte auch mit einem schweizer Reisebüro (KUONI) nach Pripjat, aber das war mit 4000 chf zu teuer und an die wirklich spannenden Orte, wäre man dann auch nicht gegangen...Machst Du noch Touren?

@@scudwerfer also für den Preis hätte ich dir eine 10 Tägige und völlig private Tour anbieten können (all inclusive...). Wenn der Krieg vorbei ist und die Zone wieder betretbar ist, möglicherweise ja. Aber das wird noch eine sehr lange Zeit, womöglich aber auch nie mehr möglich sein.

Hier ist auch die Gefahr der Kontamination, vor allem Inkorporation die größte Gefahr. Die Strahlung ist hoch, jedoch bei wenigen Minuten Recht unbedenklich.

Absolutely most terrifying thing i can possibly imagine. People were melting. Literally melting from the radiation on them and the nurses some of them knew the danger and still tried their best. My heart to those that had to experience this tragedy. 💔 i think about you often

Viele berreiche wurden mit sand zugeschüttet, also die zum Keller führen. Ins Krankenhaus an sich kannst du mit nem guide hin, die erwähnen wohl aber den Keller nichtmal, aus angst denk ich noch mehr Interesse zu wecken Der keller ist eigentlich nicht zugänglich
