This was actually well done. I mostly ride a 32 inch unicycle and I like to hold my break for a second using my momentum to get to the balance point then release the break and off I go. Such fun!

Any time you inject the term "wrist flick'"into a casting discussion there is going to be a problem, not to mention thinking you are accomplishing a good cast off the grass.
@dwightyoder48839 ай бұрын
Casting on grass is second best, for sure. Having said that, a good cast on grass is more difficult than on on water. The required end acceleration of the cast is accomplished by the movement of the wrist in the single handed cast. Period.

I thought a Belgian cast was a nonstop oval cast. Nonstop so the wind doesn't have a chance to take it from you. Also used for heavy weighted flies.
@dwightyoder4883 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I can't say this is a pure Belgian cast because there is not constant tension on the line. The pick-up, however, makes the same initial oval movement so that's why I call it a Belgian cast. A true Belgian cast with constant tension is not as efficient though. It is especially hard to throw for distance. Call this what you like, but it's a great way to cast and keeps the weighted fly out of your ear.
@petermorse5442 Жыл бұрын
What makes that a "Belgian" cast? Looks like a fairly normal sidearm cast to me.
@dwightyoder4883 Жыл бұрын
There is a barely perceptible circular movement of the rod tip on the pick up instead of a straight line path pick up.

I've been riding Electric Unicycles for a while but wanted to try these as well. I just got a cheap one so Im going to start practicing soon. Electric isn't easy but Im sure its not as hard as this. If you havent yet you should check out EUCs. The benefit they have is being pratical for travel since they can go 40+ MPH and some of them can travel for 50-100 miles. I want to learn this for the skill of it though lol.

@@dwightyoder4883 im currently up in the UP near Iron River now trying to practice and find some more widespread beginner friendly streams to fish. Can I ask where you were fishing? Paint river perhaps?
@dwightyoder48832 жыл бұрын
@@Gloch9 you should stop in at Dark Waters Fly Shop in Iron River and talk with Seth. He can give you the lowdown on river conditions. You're definitely in a target rich environment. First place to go is the actual Iron River that runs by a nice little park right there in town. Just take N. 4th Avenue to Nanaimo Park. Not exactly a wilderness experience but there are some great little sections right there that are full of brookies. I'm okay with mentioning this specific spot because Dark Waters actually did a little video on fishing the Iron River in town. Otherwise, naming rivers in a public forum is off limits.
