Im also working on a 2tc system of my own. And i know we shouldnt rush. But according to video it took you almost 18 min or to get to hunting height. If this is average time with experience i believe ill stick with one sticking. I coukd be at same height in about a 3rd of time or littke more and make no more noise than you did. So idk may have to study into this more.

It's probably usually much faster. He completely detaches his tether and reattaches it between moves like you may have to to get over limbs to demonstrate that it can be done efficiently with his system.

Ah, no offense taken! May I ask what problem do you think we are trying to solve? To explain, I make these videos for folks on the saddlehunter.com website to explain myself. My idea, not a problem, was to have a releasable metal free tether attachment so as to limit the possibility of metal clanking in my 2TC system. I have succeeded, and this entire season every climb has been done on these SNEAK hitches. Humans always want things to be better lighter faster! Me too! Thanks for the interest!

@@wild_sam9845, I appreciate your enthusiasm, and I'm glad you've found a system that works for you. Personally, I think the complexity of the solution introduces too much chance of user error for me to be comfortable with it, for a very minimal benefit. A simple figure eight loop on the end of the rope allows me to run the end of the rope around the tree, through the loop, and tighten the loop on the tree. The 30' of rope I carry takes 10 seconds or so to run through the loop, an additional 10 sec at the end of my hunt to pull back up, a time cost that is well worth the increased safety of a simple, effective knot that has been tested for ages.

A bowline should be backed up (like a Yosemite finish) if ever used in a life support application. It will untie if loaded and unloaded multiple times. Not a subjective statement….

Thanks for the warning and I completely agree! However, if you'll watch the knot video for it, you'll see its not a bowline! Its based on a bowline, but has much more. Also I've been on my 2 tethers the entire season and the SNEAK hitch has been great, never loosened up on me.

Cool, you’re doing essentially what I do also, but I am using either the jrb cinch or saddle hunter hitch on my tether rope loops around the tree. But lately I’ve just been climbing and rappelling on the basic double rope jrb system but transferring to a tether on the jrb saddle hunter hitch to get my best hunting position in the tree
@kennethrogers1129
@kennethrogers1129 Жыл бұрын
I like 2tc, but lately , the JRB climbing method with double rope and then at height reposition with a tether, love the saddle hunters hitch, then just get back on the double rope and rappel, so safe and easy , I’ve gotten ok with a throw ball, most times it’s easy to hit a good crotch and after first climb if I like the tree leave a preset cord, with the JRB I can get up in a big tree, 2tc I tend to use on small trees

I do 2.TC also, and have an improved system with two bridges on the tree at all times, when you advance top tether and standing on your foot loop you are not attached to the tree, if you slip, and I have had this happen where your foot swings out momentarily you are way off balance and could fall, you are holding the tree with left hand and right leg,but not tied on the tree, maybe think of adding a second bridge and attaching it to your bottom tether for safety, I like your ability to make adjustments to bridge and foot loop in your tethers, I use two JRB friction ascender hitches on each tether, foot loop and leg loop and two bridge to tether connections, The bottom bridge is very short and keeps me close to the tree in case of a slip and it frees up my hands for moving tethers I used to use the running eye or “girth hitch” to make the loop for the tethers but that can drop and be scary, now I use either the JRB cinch of JRB saddle hunters hitch Keep on climbing! These methods allow the tether to be moved easily yet once set will not release until you release them, The running eye can get slack drop anytime weight is taken off it
@wild_sam9845
@wild_sam9845 Жыл бұрын
You've not seen my other videos then! I'm always attached with my bridges to both the main and foot tether! Its how I go around branches with just 2 tethers and don't need a third! Also, I used my SNEAK hitch, and its easily releasable without a carabiner or quicklink. The only metal in my system are the 2 carabiners, one to the main tether, and a second from my second bridge to the foot tether with a separate hitch than the footloop attachment! Stay safe and keep climbing!

Not really it’s based off of two ropes advancing in turn up the tree. Running eye was the start now we are using improved methods for the loops that are easy to move but won’t let go . So you just stand up in a foot loop on your bottom tether, taking weight off your top tether which you loosen and slide up the tree, tighten , put your weight on it and sit into your saddle, relax, then raise up your bottom tether taking weight off it gives you slack that you can loosen it up with, raise your foot and move that tether up, then stand on it and you repeat ….,

I like your improvements to the two tether, I like a leg loop on the top tether also , helps put weight on the top tether before sitting all the way into your saddle, and am playing around with using a doubled rope with the jrb saddle hunters hitch, a foot loop and bridge connection on each rope, also thinking of using a web chest harness on the bottom tether attached to the redundant bridge to keep me close to the tree when climbing . Jrb ascender hitches are awesome huh!

@@ericbalmes3820 Yes. I leave my second tether on the tree and stay attached to it down low, and actually use it as my bow and stuff hanger .....and sometimes will actually 2TC back down, especially if I haven't passed any limbs, as it's less of a clean up/pack up job than rappelling and is equal in time when you consider putting the rope away nicely.
