Don mentions that Eric would not get any endorsement money playing in Quebec . I lived in Philly the years that Eric was there and I NEVER SAW HIM ENDORSING ONE PRODUCT OR DOING ONE COMMERCIAL EVER ! That whole premise on why he didn't go to Quebec is nonsense . Him and his parents were too difficult for anyone to work with , Quebec or Philly . The trade that brought Eric these set the franchise back for 20 years . Three first round draft pics plus Peter Forsberg , who ALONE was better than Eric . Plus all of their best players at each position including Ron Hextall , Steve Deschene , Mike Ricci , Kerry Huffman and Chris Simon PLUS 15 Million Dollars ! For what ? A selfish locker room cancer that NEVER won anything ! Him and his parents ruined the Flyers franchise .

I had the privilage of sitting 8 feet away from Bob Cole and Harry Neale during the 2002 olympics, doing the off ice results... the goose bumps went away about 3 weeks ago. RIP sir.....

This man’s voice is my childhood. “Gretzky to Lemieux” in 87 Canada Cup is certainly an honourable mention. I can hear Bob call Crosby’s Golden Goal in my head even though it was Chris Cuthbert. RIP Bob Cole, thanks for the memories!

Bob Cole's voice made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. He had a way of calling the game that grabbed you. One of the most incredible Bob Cole sequences is Game 6 between the LA Kings and Toronto Maple Leafs. End to end rushes narrated by Bob. Absolutely enthralling. You can't listen to it without feeling the tension. It's a "classic game" on the NHL.

Lindros didn`t want to go to Quebec because he hated Marcel Aubut. Aubut was a known womanizer who hit on Lindros mom thus Lindros hated him.

I love how Cujo looked under his glove at 2:03 to see if he actually stopped the puck. As if he himself couldn't believe he saved it. One of favourite Bob Cole calls. R.I.P to the greatest. The all time legend.

Bob was the best...My favourite call, after Desjardin tied and then won that game 2 in OT but later than what is shown here, with the crowd going nuts...“well Harry Neale, they just put a new roof up here at The Forum and I hope they used heavy steel up there, cuz it’s gonna lift!”...

RIP Mr. Cole. An iconic voice, not just for hockey, but in all sports. I grew up in buffalo, so was lucky enough to get HNIC on Saturdays and looked forward to that every week. I went through tough times as a kid, but watching hockey and hearing his voice was an escape for me. Thanks for the memories!

I'm an American and Bob Cole was my favorite hockey play-by-play announcer ever. I was mesmerized listening to his calls on the old Classic Sports Network, which later became ESPN Classic. Some of his greatest calls that come to mind are '89 Flames-Canadiens game 6, '90 Oilers-Bruins game 1, and '93 Kings-Leafs game 7.
