Looking forward to your projects with this company! I love sewing costumes too....from the tiny Barbie doll to a 3 person unicorn costume for a local high-school! Your wedding dress is gorgeous. I also made mine plus all the bridesmaids! That was insane!😂

I don't like the scrunch on the top. When I close them they always get hung up on where the one curtain rod slips into the other. I hate it I'd like tab curtains or put the rings to slide on the curtain rod

I heard you say it can cut synthetic fabric. What about cotton, satin, silk, or linen?
@SailriteWorkbenchКүн бұрын
It is not made to be used on those types of fabrics. It works on fabrics like acrylic, nylon, and polyester. Synthetic fabrics melt, while natural ones like cotton burn up. The hot knife essentially melts away a straight line to cut through the fabric. While it does that, it seals the edges from fraying.

Any plans on upgrading the fabricator to be more gusset friendly. Not necessarily a cylinder arm but some room to let you work around a gusset curve?
@SailriteWorkbench3 күн бұрын
We don't have any plans like that for the fabricator at the moment, but we receive numerous requests for cylinder arm machines, so that's certainly something we're considering.

@@SailriteWorkbench I'm looking to make the move from hand sewing and the Fabricator is really my first pick. I am just not sure I would have the skill level to do gussets on it.
@SailriteWorkbenchКүн бұрын
Gussets are tricky no matter what, even when hand sewing. I would recommend practicing on fabric or cheaper leather, using a good adhesive to keep everything tightly together, and fine-tuning your pattern so that everything lines up properly. For me, gussets and zippers were intimidating, but the only way to learn is to give it a try and be patient with yourself. You got it!

Do the bevel tips come sharpened or do i have to remove the red coating and sharpen them?

You will have to remove the protective red coating, but they will be sharp right out of the box! I would still recommend stropping them regularly to maintain the edge.

Congratulations on becoming the representative to the DIY part of sailrite. Get ready for all of my sarcastic responses. This is my way of sharing love. And yes I do make comments all the time to sailrite videos. I've been taking classes for sewing and I actually get a kick out of it. And all the other women in my class get a kick out of having a man in the class. Plus I make it quite enjoyable because of my antics and comments. And I'm getting quite good with it. Personally I get a kick out of sailrite videos about making dodgers and Bimini tops for sailboats. I watch all of the sailrite videos and I watch alot of other videos to about making carseat covers and interiors. That is way advanced kind of sewing. The things that they do to make cars eat covers and interiors is just fantastic. Okay just wanted to write to you and congratulate you. See you soon.😊

I hate the backside of machine stitched items ... but the overall consitency on the front is hard to match by handsewing
@riverbenson893210 күн бұрын
I’ve never seen this before. What is the purpose of? Does the machine also have dogs?
@Jen-CelticWarrior9 күн бұрын
I recently got one of these machines, the LSZ. Yes, it has feed dogs. This machine is a beast! It will sew through tough fabrics, vinyl, leather, canvas…some folks use it to make sails. However, it can also sew quilts by tweaking the tension. 😊

My Huskvarna Emerald 118 manual says nothing about the max thread size. Really want to know if it can take a V92 marine thread before I buy, and what size leather needle I would need for it.
@SailriteWorkbench10 күн бұрын
I like to use a size 18 leather point needle with v92 thread for leatherwork. You could use up to a size 20 needle. Here is a link to the needles I would recommend. sailrite.com/Needles-135x16-DI-18

@@SailriteWorkbench Thanks a lot. I live in the UK so it's a little different, but I think I can figure out what I need. Just don't know if my machine can handle that size thread, because it's not an industrial workhorse machine, more of an expensive home machine with a plastic/metal walking foot attachment.

Is there a method that does not burst the back of the leather while sewing? Can we handle this with needle selection?
@SailriteWorkbench11 күн бұрын
Are you using leather needles and still bursting the back side of the leather? Leather point needles are designed to cut through the leather and avoid that. If you are using fabric needles that could be the issue. If you are using leather needles and still having that problem, you could be using too large of a needle. I usually recommend diamond leather point needles. Our most recent video on the channel goes into more detail if you want to check that out!
@alioncel695311 күн бұрын
@@SailriteWorkbench What should I do to make the back stitch look as beautiful as the front stitch? Do you think machine stitching is needle welded or thread welded?
@SailriteWorkbench11 күн бұрын
Your best bet is to make sure you are using the right size needle and thread, use a leather point needle to make clean holes, and fine-tune your tension to make sure the knot is hidden in the middle of the leather. The back side of the stitch will never look quite as perfect as the top side, but if your machine is properly set up, you can still get great results. I will choose the machine over hand sewing anyday for time and convenience but I do appreciate the workmanship of hand sewing or handcrafting in general.
@SailriteWorkbench12 күн бұрын
I completely agree, there is a special charm about the extra time and effort that is required for hand sewing. For me, it depends on the type of project. I might hand sew something like a watch strap where the tiny details stand out, but a machine comes in handy for all of my larger projects!
@Meta987113 күн бұрын
As a layman I would say either looks clean and tidy, I think most people would share my opinion. But I do appreciate the effort put into handcrafting.

Super helpful but is it an easier way to do it without taking the whole headliner out. The fabric on my headliner is coming down in spots but I just want to make it stick back up without taking it out.
@Teal2nnrКүн бұрын
Unfortunately to do it properly, it will need to be removed. There is no way of effectively getting adhesive behind the sagging fabric without pulling all off and regluing it.
