I’m so surprised and relieved this worked. I used this on my jansport backpack because one of the zippers had derailed, I used a flat head screwdriver to force the rail back into the zipper but then it started opening both sides when zipping it. But I was relieved when I did exactly as the woman said and now I got my backpack working again!

Sailrites are great machines, but it was the videos that sold me. I bought my machine five years ago and have made many products. The videos are immensely helpful.

As you said unraveling can wreck a project, so a glue needle is great to stick the last few stitches, going right into the holes with the threads and gluing is a top quality idea 💡.

Folks have been asking for a cylinder arm machine. It appears you are coming out with a setter machine for rivets and snaps. If that is the case, I think that will be a huge swing and a miss. There are already enough of those on the market. People have been asking for the cylinder arm sewing machine. Sailrite promised one was coming, and not it's obvious it's not. Something else is.

I'm curious how the same diameter circle could work for both the top and bottom. Wouldn't the top be a longer length, because of the curve, therefore need a bigger circle?
@SailriteWorkbench6 күн бұрын
Hi Laura! You are correct. The top and bottom circle panels do have different diameters. The top panel has a diameter of 38-1/2" and the bottom panel has a diameter of 35-1/2". Here is the provided PDF for reference: directus.sailrite.com/assets/d74b5048-87ad-4c85-a392-46fdd55e63ce

I see a nautical symbol on your shirt so I will assume you are discussing zipper pulls for marine canvas tops. No zippers are like what you show. None. Not one. Not ever. At the end is a box, or double long tooth. Why not show how to install a zipper on one of these zippers that exist in the real world?
@SailriteWorkbench7 күн бұрын
Hi Doug, in this video, we used a continuous zipper chain. Continuous zipper chains are usually purchased in large lengths and trimmed down to fit the size of a project. In this case, the zipper stops, starter box, and/or starting pins would be installed after the slider. You are referencing a finished zipper chain. A finished zipper is a prefabricated zipper (with a slider, stops, and possibly a starter pin and box). These include bridge top, bag type, and jacket/separating zippers. We have videos on our channel showing how to install and replace zippers on a jacket and a backpack. You might find those videos helpful.

I have a question about the bottom cutouts. How do you come up with them? 4×2.5Can it be 4x2 or 4x4 or 2x4.5? How does it matter when stitching?
@SailriteWorkbench9 күн бұрын
This type of gusset will not work with just any measurement, or the side seam would not line up properly, and it could create a gap in the middle of the gusset. I would recommend using our measurements or a pattern if it's your first time making one, but if you need to increase/decrease the size, I will try to explain how to explain my process. With the body of the bag laying flat, I find the center point of the bag where the gusset should go. On both sides of the centerline, I mark a square area on either side of the center line. Then you need to account for seam allowance, so I add 0.25 or 0.5 inch to the length of the side of the cutout that is perpendicular to the side of the bag. That is why our cutout is 4x2.5 instead of 4x2. This is as close as I can give you for a formula, but sometimes it can come down to trial and error with scrap material until you find the measurement that lines up properly. We will make a video on this sometime! I hope this helps for now.

You refer to dgr panels for reinforcement of the bag bottom? What is this material? It is not mentioned in the materials used for the project. Thanks.
@SailriteWorkbench11 күн бұрын
We used the same Dacron material that we used to reinforce the walls.
@magdiego11 күн бұрын
The materials list calls for one roll of dgr, does that mean one yard?
@SailriteWorkbench9 күн бұрын
Sorry for the confusion, for this project you will need 1 yard of the Dacron® 10.4 oz. White Sailcloth.
