Awesome. I learned to play th emiddle C following your instructions. And I just started to play the flute 2 weeks ago. Mind you I had to sit infront of a small mirror to see the shape of the embouchure (hope i spelled that correctly). I have to solidify it though. Hopefully when I pick up the flute tomorrow I will remember the shape of my lips to get the low notes properly. I had to be persistant for at least 2.5 hours, but it paid off.

I really appreciate your help! I have a great deal of difficulty keeping each note from sounding too airy! Here is a silly question. When your flute sounds flat do you push head joint in or pull out?
@DevynFluteАй бұрын
Glad it helps! When the flute is flat, you should push the headjoint in :)

Too bad you didn't try a wood head on a metal body. It's a nice combo and generally more affordable. The larger diameter of a wood flute body took me a long time to adapt to in terms of holding the instrument, especially up high in the 3rd octave. The solution is to press the head firmer against the chin or have a saddle (concave) style lip plate. The allure of having a wood flute is very tempting, but a wood head can make even an intermediate level silver flute sound wonderful for a fraction of the cost. ❤🇨🇦

Have an audition in 5 days and my private lesson teacher told me I need better tone to make my high school Wind Ensemble so hoping to improve from here on. Will update if I get into WE.

@random_9471Ай бұрын
@fluffydragon327 Nope. Got 2nd chair Symphonic. Considering quitting lmao, because I was in 3rd chair Symphonic last year and the director completely let his bias take over our Wind Ensemble. So, being one chair higher than last year doesn't really sound fun to me

I’ve started playing the flute since about a month ago, and I have to say, I really enjoy all the pieces you record and post. Not a lot of other content creators upload independent flute music with this high of quality. I have been watching all of your videos and every time, you remind why I want to invest time into this instrument. Thank you for making these!!

I tend to like the metal flutes better for solos, but prefer the wooden flutes in orchestras. I don't play the flute, though - this is from a composer's viewpoint. :)
