That was the best video that I’ve watched yet you helped me understand every step of the way. Can’t wait for another one so often.

I didn't understand this >>>>> 18:46 it creates a sort of peltier device condensing water out of the atmosphere into the nitric acid allowing the nitric acid to further reduce the copper ?????

Do you have any recommendations on Laboratory Glassware brands or sources for someone just getting started? (Obviously, this reaction is far too advanced for me, but as I learn, I like to acquire the proper hardware needed)

Impeccable gold bar... The hydrogen peroxide and hydrochloric acid method seems to be much cheaper than what i see others do with nitric acid.

Sorry anyone that knows anything about nitric acid and chemistry knows that anything over about 75 or 80% combines with oxygen and moisture in the air and explodes so you're 95% is mythical at best
@Christofblueberry2 ай бұрын
Thankyou for clarifying this. There are lot of misconceptions in this video. The neutralizing solution should be sodium hydroxide since sodium bicarb will only push out any remaining n2o gas which is highly toxic. The concentration is also not tested using analytical methods such as simple density test or titration. Not to mention the azeotrope that nitric acid and HCl which makes it nearly impossible to make higher 80%conc
@Christofblueberry2 ай бұрын
And I forgot to mention. A high conc nitric acid will not react completely with copper since a barrier of reacted copeer nitrate will block further nitric acid to penetrate the copper and this video shows the opposite occurence which suggest a conc of lower than atleast 50% to 60%

Hydraulics acids is muriatic acid do not breath gaz verry dangerous 😢 hydrogen proxid cover up it will heat up and try to bubble up. 13 hrs will get desoved metal a d be dark be ause of metals. 1000 millimeter after 27 hrs 100 millimeter to restart action. 😮gold foils are floating don ferget to use your airrater like from a aquarium. 😅put salution i 2 gallon bucket. Gold is coming out. Dont .mix up untell 10 hrs has gone by sence last time hydrogen proxid was added.😊verry carosive be careful. Drain recover gold pore excess off for lattet save gold.salution filter has gold. Save.😅❤ 200 millimeter to recover gold nitria . Warm mixer do not breath.mix sodium byfolsphate .remove filter to proses . Allowed gold mixture to set 4 hrs. Hydraulic acid mix is brown pore off. Test with stanis chloride. Pore off then mix hot water in gold. Wash off. One hour all gold is settled to bottom of beaker. Left with gold mud at the bottom of beaker. Let dry. After one hour all gold has settled at bottom of beaker. Add 400 milliliters of Hydraulic acid. 😢mediums heat and strong stirring .it will react to any left over metal . It will turn brown because of left over metal. Remove from heat and let cool. 😮test. Now mix in sodium bysolphate salution. 😂 carefully small amounts, this way you dont nock out the other metals.5 minuts to full react.😊 after settled down , test again. It should be clear, all metals are gone. 😮 it is safe pore off liquid salution.

Hello. How much amount of nitric acid is needed for 1 kg for silver jewellery (70% purity) and how much amount of distilled water is needed before adding copper plates?
@ctrgraduaciones517425 күн бұрын
you need one gallon for 100 metal oz. maybe one liter and half for your kilogram

Potassium nitrate and water is and ENDOthermic reaction, not EXOthermic
@wesleymccravy9015 ай бұрын
Probably should have filtered after dissolving nitrate salt into the water prior to cooling. Also you would want to boil the water down to half volume, THEN cool it. Next decant off your liquid and boil THAT down to half volume and cool again. You’re wasting A LOT of your “pure crystals”.
@wesleymccravy9015 ай бұрын
Also no need to purify anything prior to distilling because you are distilling. Same reason why drying doesn’t matter, just toss the water layer

Still waiting to see where you refine this to 99.999% fine. Your cemented silver is 95% pure max ... Your yield is contaminated. You cannot get even 99% pure, let alone 99.999% using this method.

Hi Phillip Bender, We really enjoyed your video and are going to embark on doing this process. By far the best & most thorough video on this subject! If it wouldn't be too much trouble could you please post a list of glassware and chemistry equipment you used? I got all the acids from the video, but I have to buy supplies and just want to buy bare essentials! Thanks again and looking forward to future videos! Cheers!

Same here! I was a laboratory professional for 35 years. We were never allowed to handle, pour or mix acids or alkaline solutions without wearing nitrile or thick rubber gloves, protective apron, face mask/respirator and face shield. Acid burns are not fun on any part of the skin or face.
