It's incredible how you can deny the evidence of the facts. In the USA you shoot children and teenagers inside schools, there are attacks at least 2 or 3 times a year, in no European country has a school been attacked. In no European country do they go and kill students in a school, something like this has never happened, but you manage to deny that every shot could very likely be a gunshot. You are Ridiculous! You are the exact photocopy of the obtuse and presumptuous American!

So, the first amendment in the US says that freedom of speech is never questioned. The first amendment in Germany, says that every man is INVIOLABLE. This means that in America I can say that you are a bastard son of a Bitch, because the first amendment allows me to do so, while in Germany I cannot say them, because my freedom ends where yours begins, and I have no right to VIOLATE you!

Charleston is kind of off the beaten path for a foreigner. It's not like you went to NYC, LA, or Orlando to have Texas BBQ. People can make Texas BBQ east of the Mississippi.

Your subdivision example applies to literally any city in the world. A person who lives in any greater metro area will just summarize the metro area's name because not everyone they talk to especially foreigners are gonna know. Someone from Wimbledon in the UK is just gonna say they're from London or say southwest london etc. Same applies with any city. Only when speaking in local context does specific area apply.

Seriously, if you keep the mug for mulled wine instead of returning it, in Germany, strictly speaking, that is theft from a legal perspective, because the deposit does not entitle you to keep the mug ... unfortunately, that is a big and widespread mistake. If you like a mug, just ask the stall owners if they sell the mugs separately, which is often the case, and then that's fine. This is also the reason why the deposit for mugs is getting higher and higher at many Christmas markets in large cities, because many people simply take the mugs with them or leave them somewhere at the Christmas market, and this has become a major cost factor for the stall owners because they have to buy these mugs too, which are not promotional gifts.

im guessing, being the winter season & higher costs of retail spaces in Chicago, that's been engrained in Americans to expect the inflated prices.

the vendors at the Chicago Market are from Germany. They come every year and the market ends a few days before christmas so the vendors can return home for Christmas. It is a bit spendy, there are others in the area that are more affordable.

We usually attend this market. There is no entry fee. It is usually very crowded. It is expensive, but authentic. I live 90 miles northwest of Chicago, and only go into the city for 1 day annually for this market. Otherwise, I avoid Chicago like the plague.

So many comments about this particular video especially as a Texan who lives in the center of all the BBQ activity... -I find it so funny when Germans are amazed by Texas BBQ because we are taught here that Texas BBQ originated from German immigrants. Perhaps German food was closer to central Texas BBQ back in the 1800s? *There are some core elements to make your own Texas BBQ that are transplantable -- Fuel: Aged/Dried White Post Oak wood; Time: You have to baby that entire cook, even not paying attention for a couple of hours makes the difference between authentic and non-authentic/failure *Germans are immigrating back to Texas once again and it's crazy to see -- the sheer number of German channels about Texas is kind of fascinating, especially here in Central Texas *The cost of BBQ used to be affordable, but it is now insanely high -- when I first had Texas bbq in 2010, it was about $7.50 for a pound of the best brisket (moist/fatty), it is now around $26 in 2024. *You are right, the best value in getting BBQ is almost always the sandwich, it gets nearly a pound of meat in most places, but at half the price of buying just a pound of meat *The BBQ business is so competitive and the profit margins are so slim that many great places suddenly appear and then disappear -- the Top 50 from Texas Monthly magazine is the best place to find out what is current and good. *You can have amazing Texas BBQ in cities that are much more affordable and easier to get to than Austin/San Antonio -- like Charleston, but watch the current reviews carefully because even one shortcut made to save money or time will result in much lower ratings *Texas weather plays a part in the quality of Texas BBQ -- avoid BBQ during the peak of winter. I personally think the alchemy that creates the best conditions for making BBQ is in late spring through late summer (don't come to Texas in the summer to eat BBQ, the heat will kill you) *My personal favorite BBQ in central Texas is Snows in Lexington, TX, and secondarily, Brotherton's Black Iron BBQ in Pfluggerville, TX, and third, any H-E-B grocery store that sells it fresh -- a lot of other fine purveyors of high quality BBQ, but I am unwilling to pay the astronomical prices

Aldi (Germany) is marketing American style pork ribs lately. Trader Joe's brand. One of the flavors is PB&J if you can believe that. I usually trust Trader Joe's but the ribs suck. Also, Aldi's normal brand of BBQ ribs sucks. The flavor, the size, and the fact that they are full of little bone splinters. I bought plain ribs at Rewe and tried to do it myself, fail. I bought Jack Daniels brand ribs and they sucked. There has to be a way to make ribs in Germany that taste good. Can someone help?

Anybody can make Texas BBQ. It ain't fussy. But truthfully, central & north Texas will do it better on average. And some do it better consistently than anyone else. It is sort of like me being a pit master for 30 years. I sometimes get close to artisan BBQ. Lewis can be very good. Maybe even artisan. But to make sure, you will have to try the others. Good luck on your food journey.

@@LythaWausW A smoker can be made out of a cardboard box. After a few times in a small grill or box you will want to get an offset smoker. As long as your smoker is a half a square meter cooking surface, a cheap one is fine. Don't run out & buy something expensive until you are really committed to it. German pork & smoking wood will be different but might even be better in some ways. Then watch several pit masters on KZbin. There is Memphis style ribs which I prefer, Carolina, St Louis, etc & all are a little different. How 'Tiny' are these ribs?
