No. I like it less and less. At least it was suspenseful on the first watch, but alas it doesn't make sense. The whole season had a lot of bad writing, but it was still enjoyable so I overlooked it. However the finale was a nail to the coffin. This is a series about a serial killer evading the police and they brought him back to catch him on slip-on-a-banana-and-discover-gold plot conveniences. Clyde Phillips sacrificed the means for the end and I for one didn't need "the right ending," I just needed for whatever ending to be plausible. If they had kept the gist of the ending but rewritten how they got there it could have been good, now it's just another failed finale with more plot holes than S8. And that's a shame because there was lots of good stuff that's been over-shadowed.

Not really... it seem like a cop out ending, the season was good , but the end very disappointing I was expecting police all over the place with batista a manhunt with a big showdown but he died in the snow like some shot white buck SMH

I'm not in love with the ending, but I still really enjoyed this season! It exceeded my expectations for continuing the story of Dexter years later! 😍

I enjoyed the season. I'm kind of a romantic though, so I would have preferred it if Hannah (who of course wasn't really dead) had come to Iron Lake searching for Harrison, finding him there with Dexter. One look and bam, Dexter and Hannah are in love all over again. The three of them head back to Argentina and enjoy the life they always yearned for. The End.

Hey Phil!!!! Wow I never knew you were a Dexter fan!! I have yet to watch the new Dexter. By the way do they have it in German???? You know you can’t help but fall in love with this serial killer!!! Hey guys I’ll be in Germany around the last 2 weeks in March, it would be great if we could meet up, hell I’ll eve buy you guys lunch or Dinner !!! 😁

Haha yeah, I think it's one of the best TV shows! They do have it in German. All the shows are dubbed. Sometimes decently, sometimes pretty badly, though. :D I watch everything in English though, that's how I learned. :) Where in Germany will you be?

Thanks for this great review of New Blood, Phil! I really enjoyed most of the season, but the ending was pretty rough and kinda ruined it a bit for me. I would have loved Dexter to leave all of them behind and start fresh in LA by himself.

I was fine with Dexter's season 8 ending. Him chopping wood at some random cold place, alright. New Blood felt too forced. The random things that had to happen to come to this conclusion in the end didn't feel smooth, as some of the other seasons later in the show. But in the end even a bad Dexter season is still a season of Dexter, so better than most shows out there. But this one wasn't bad for me, it was just a bit mediocre.

I liked the original ending, which is what should happen when you finally realize how your horrible actions affected people you love. You don't get to just die when you're responsible for others' misery. The new season ruins that for me and puts a lazy cap on everything. Killing the cop was so against Dexter's character and against the tone of the whole show. He wasn't even going to kill Doakes, so why would he kill the guy who never hurt anyone? The complex ending where he had to live a life facing what he had done to others was taken away by forcing his own son to kill him? I get why the old ending was unsatisfying for people but this one is just ugly imo.

Yes, agree, good season until he killed the police officer, that seemed to be a forced plot device and not that characteristic of Dexter (in my memory) and I did get sad and angry over that. But still, I can live with the ending...
