Could you build a house out of them? I really like the look and would like to take my current brick facing down and replace them with blocks and add oversized trusses resting on the cinderblocks to vault the attic and give the house a magical whimsical cottage feel. Could you do it?
@PlanetMojo17 сағат бұрын
I see them all the time made onto utility structures, but they are open ended and would never pass inspection for code as a dwelling. You actually could cast a foundation with the same pattern, but I don't think you would get away with these as a dwelling. 😑

Do you have any details on how you attached the outer thimble and the boot? Wondering if you put the outer thimble on the inside of the exterior sheetmetal, then the boot on the outside of the sheetmetal. Then rivet together sandwiching the exterior sheetmetal.

Great job Mojo! When we had our cabin built years ago, the plumber turned on the water after working for two days on the plumbing, and a fitting flew across the room like a bullet. There was water everywhere! Besides the wide open fitting there were at least six leaks. This was from a 'professional' plumber.🥴

What do you think about unfaced insulation batts without, and then cover everything with large sheets of vapor barrier? It might save all the taping detail. But like you said, often you just have to buy what's available in your area.
@PlanetMojo13 күн бұрын
That would work great. If I were to go that route I would use MemBrain smart barrier over the insulation, and if I could afford it, Rockwool insulation. That's what I do in ceilings right now, and it's debatable whether you need a vapor barrier at all with the Rockwool.

Thanks Larry! It can be a bit difficult to remember all of the 'sub-projects' - hence the punch lists. Right now I have four punch lists; one for the tiny house, one for the garage, one for winterizing (wrapping that one up today), and finally, a large list for the woodshop. Without these lists (and daily task lists), I would be running around like a chicken with it's head cut-off! 🥴It's a good thing scratching things off of any of the lists 😊

@ Oh wow! Drywall! lol. I was once drywalling most of a house alone and I couldn’t really handle the weight of the big sheets. So, I cut them all into fourths and hung it that way lol🤗 those walls looked like giant checkerboards before they were taped and muddled. But I got it done and you couldn’t see it after it was painted. I would have them but those giant buckets of mud in the trunk of my car then I’d get in the trunk and kick it out onto the ground and roll it in the house. lol🤗 Where there is a will, there’s a way. I wish Natalie good luck with it. At least she will have some help.❤️🐝🤗

You don't need to bend them more than 45 degrees it hangs on to it how would you hang dry wall or what ever
@PlanetMojo15 күн бұрын
The manufacturer recommends 90 degrees (and it would be harder to align batts at 45), and you attach interior panels to interior girts.

Moles are actually good. Maybe not in your flower garden. 😅 but they loosen up that darn Virginia Red Dirt
@PlanetMojo15 күн бұрын
Moles destroy lawns, and can cause catastrophic erosion on hillsides, and are prone to having rabies. They are not "actually good".
@billeverett623017 күн бұрын
I had my doubts about these until i put them up and starting working off them i was up about 30 feet putting on shear panel. I have 10 of them and use them alot they really come in handy when i'm framing but have even use them doing siding too.
@georgesmith463920 күн бұрын
I bought a pair of these 2 weeks ago and deployed them on active mole paths and neither has worled. I can see where the new raised tunnel comes up to the trap and then goes around it. I did NOT touch the scissor blades with bare hands so no scent was on them. I also tried the spike type traps with 6 spikes and those dont work since when they go off the spikes lift the trap out of the ground rather than going into the ground.

Thank you Donnie! Heading out in a few minutes for the final split of this year. Started on the first pull every year so-far, and it's super easy to split when you back your side-by-side right up to the splitting side of the machine, and take the logs right from the cargo bed onto the splitter.
@rogerhunter5404Ай бұрын
I just watched this video even thought it's a couple of years old. The work looks tidy, but there are at least a couple of things that should be avoided. Twisting the fittings rather than the nuts is not the way they are intended to be installed (look at about 19:00 minutes into the video). The fittings should be held securely with a wrench or pliers, and then the nut should be tightened onto the fitting. If you do it the other way (twisting the fitting), you're twisting the end of the CSST against the inner seal, which can deform it and/or cut it. The CSST should be pressed against the seal, not twisted into it. There are other considerations, too, but those are the ones I wanted to mention -- don't twist, and hold securely while tightening. Viewers, keep in mind, too, that not all jurisdictions allow CSST to be used.
