You guys gotta check out her idol the late miss Minnie riperton (1947-1979) who is also the mother of actress and comedian Maya Rudolph it is rumor that Maya Rudolph has a secret band and the rumors were true

that’s not her idol it’s just who inspired her to learn how to whistle. Her biggest musical inspirations were Stevie Wonder,Aretha Franklin and The Clark Sisters

Actually they both sampled a rose Royce song called I'm going down from 1976 from the movie soundtrack car wash (1976) which featured their other hit car wash but the oh boy part was from the song I'm going down and the singer name is gwen dickey who was the leading lady from Rose Royce they was big in the 70s but their biggest hit was car wash which we be hearing a lot plus christina Aguilera and missy Elliott covered the song for a movie name shark tale

So a lil backstory about this Album. This was her 1st album with her new contract with Island/Def Jam Records (a subsidiary of Universal Music Group) . Her previous contract with Virgin Records was terminated by the label after the Poor album sales of Glitter (which was unfortunately released on 9/11/01). She surd them for breach of contract and was awarded around $27mil. She was approached by her friend Antonio L.A. Reid ( formerly of LaFace records, co-owner with Babyface) who is in Charge of the the label and she later signed with Universal. Highly recommend watching the Music Video for this song (its especially personal to Mariah) This album was also a tribute to her Dad, whom had recently passed away from Cancer.

It's actually not a happy song.. hehe it's a breakup song like "Always Be My Baby" in which an interpreter couldn't seem to forget her/his first love and ended up just no one would ever replace him/her in her/his heart forever..
