I will be trying this tonight for the first time and pairing it with a steak tortellini dish I'm trying out on my griddle. Great to know how to be opening it too! 👍

Do you study with WSET? I was trying to see what the paper is on the table…
@winethisweekwithscottleak78806 ай бұрын
Yes I got my level 1 and 2 from WSET. I wasn’t able to get level 3 because it was during covid and couldn’t do the live blind tastings. Then life just got back to normal and I had to get back to working my day job. 🤣

Bierzo region is really close to Galicia but it's actually not in Galicia, it's in northwestern Castile-León. Mencía is however planted in both regions Bierzo in Castile-León and Ribeira Sacra in Galicia.

Not a fan at off of Kim Crawford SB. To my untrained palette, I think it drinks with a subtle reminder of Chardonnay 😖 somewhat oaky. Because I dislike this character so much, perhaps I’m more aware of it. But Kim Crawford is a no for me. I like the cloudy bay and craggy range though! Not a fan of California SB. I prefer NZ. But I think I’ll try a Sancerre!

Just had this wine last week and it was over the top on tannins - once I had food with it I was pleased but like you it needed food to really appreciate.

Are you really wasting that Chianti Riserva for a pizza? What kind of pizzas do they make in your area? That wine works with Florentine steak and Brunello with very cooked and flavorful meats such as stew or braised. Both wineries you have chosen are excellent value for money. Regarding the most expensive Supertuscans with Bordeaux blend they are super only for the price, if I have to spend that money I go to Bordeaux and drink better. Different speech for some 100% Sangiovese such as Flaccianello, Cepparello or Fontalloro, outstanding wines at more acceptable prices.

What’s your take on cru bourgeois? Is it the gateway to quality Bordeaux or marketing BS?
@winethisweekwithscottleak78802 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with cru bourgeois in my opinion. Its still a reputable classification, and good values can be found there. The classification system of 1855 on the left bank has changed one chateau's classification once since then so how much does that really reflect what is good in the 2020s? Most ARE still good to excellent, that's only 1% of the chateau in Bordeaux. Many more are worth trying. In the end - try new wines, trust your palate and drink what you like!

So Harrison is my favorite Beatle…bad choice
@winethisweekwithscottleak78802 жыл бұрын
LOL. I hear you. But my point wasn't that Harrison was bad. The lesser known varietals of Bordeaux are among some of my favorites in the blends and as standalones. They simply don't have the street cred of Cabernet or Merlot - justified or not.
will brunello's acidity and tannin go lower as continue aging or even trying on an older vintage? really appreciate for the answer cause im new into wines.
@winethisweekwithscottleak78802 жыл бұрын
Bryan, sorry for the long overdue reply. Yes, both tannins and acidity will decrease as they age, which is why in general, wines like these and Cabernet, with naturally high acid and tannins can be aged longer than a Pinot Noir for example.

Just discovered this channel today, and I must say I really enjoy your videos. You got a great personality which makes these videos not boring, plus they're really informative. Already watched the Bordeaux video and a few others. Red Bordeaux is by far my favorite wine, and I always pick at least one up if I see one.

So it’s the perfect wine when you don’t wanna indulgently engage in the material pleasures of life? That’s probably why it’s considered the everyday wine in Piedmont. Maybe “pietism” derives from this wine?

I used to have a case of 2000 cantemerle and they were fantastic. The own problem is that the quality dropped after 2015. It seems like this wine can't be stored for too long

I just found your channel recently. It's a really cool idea going through all of the different grape varieties from A-Z. I've only watched a handful so far, but I'm looking forward to watching the rest. It looks like you have a pretty nice cellar. Maybe one day do a video on a cellar tour and talk about your favorite wines/producers you like to buy and cellar...just an idea! Cheers!

Thank you! I’m glad you are enjoying it. It’s been fun to really focus on learning more about varietals I’ve had over and over but forcing myself to try new ones and document what I’ve learned. I don’t yet know what I’ll do after I finish #52 so I appreciate the idea on the “cellar tour”!
