My *_TOP TIPS_* (especially _Survival Mode_ )---> --> _Codsworth_ is available as a companion without first needing to free *Preston.* Simply enter _Concord_ far enough that Preston and the Raiders start fighting, return to Sanctuary, and he can be hired. Taking him along to free *Preston* can give some _affinity boosts._ _Codsworth_ will give you a Purified Water on a continual basis just by talking with him, making him a solid companion for _Survival Players._ --> *_Need Caps?_* Stop at nearby *Abernathy Farm,* under the Power Pylon. Grab the 9 Melons, then speak with the daughter _Lucy._ Keep picking the top dialogue choice about caps as currency. This will trigger an Easy speech check, and she will offer to buy Melons for 5 caps instead of 3. She can buy every Melon you have, _on an ongoing basis,_ which can be lucrative if you turn Sanctuary into a Melon farm. However, if you make the Farm a settlement, she *stops* buying them. --> *_Survival Players,_* besides planting *Tato,* *Mutfruit* and *Corn* for _Adhesive,_ plant *Razorgrain.* Cook *1 Razorgrain /1 Dirty Water* to make rad-free _Noodle Cups._ They lower thirst one level, hunger half a level, _yet weighs the same as Water!_ Check wandering vendor _Trashcan Carla_ and _Trudy at Drumlin Diner,_ South of Concord. Or find randomly as loot. --> *_Weapon and Armor modifications_* can be _stripped and swapped_ onto your better gear. You can _remove armor mods_ for free, but you will have to _build a new gun mod_ from components. Even without Gun Nut, you can build the base level gun mod, which will put the previously attached modification into your inventory, and put onto your new hotness. --> _Survival Players_ should build *15 more water supply than they have settlers,* minimum. This will _accumulate_ extra water from the Workshop *every day,* so take it out store it separately in another container. New Purified Water will be added every day *_if_* there’s little to no water already in the workshop. If you build a large enough water purification operation, a huge amount can get added daily. Use this for your travels, or stockpile, and sell the surplus. --> _Survival Mode_ features *Diseases,* acquired numerous ways. You can take *Antibiotics,* visit a *Doctor,* or *Wait* until they go away eventually. Each disease has _different durations,_ lasting from *2-7 days.* The most debilitating are _Weakness_ (receive +20% damage), and _Infection_ (take damage over time, though it won’t kill you, will leave you with a sliver of health). These two diseases take *2.5 days* to go away. Find something safe to do, like decorating Sanctuary, or sleep it off. Sleeping causes a _disease check,_ so you might get sick again, but anything is better than Weakness or Infection. *Early game,* when resources are tight, you might be better off saving Antibiotics just in case for the debilitating diseases, and living with the others until they go away. -->Want to play _Survival Mode,_ but aren’t sure what starting SPECIAL to use? I’ve found it’s worth going for strong combat skills first, and then flesh out your build. *Melee Builds,* get _Rooted_ (STR9) and _Blitz_ (AGI9) immediately. *9,1,4,3,1,9,1* _(Book END)._ *VATS Guns,* get _Penetrator_ (PER9) and _Concentrated Fire_ (PER10). *1,9,3,3,3,7,2* _(Book AGI)._ You’ll get the *Perception Bobblehead* when you free Preston, so have a point saved, and put into Concentrated Fire mid-rescue. --> _Survival Mode_ players should seriously consider _not_ using Power Armor. _Swimming_ is Survival’s Fast Travel. You’ll get around much faster and safer. *_Aquaboy/girl perk_* will save you a ton of time! Without spoiling, the game gives you a quick means of crossing the map as you do the main story, if you dabble with the *Brotherhood of Steel.* --> _New Players:_ *Idiot Savant* isn’t a good choice for first timers. Enemies scale with you. You need to have good gear to survive, and easy and fast XP can leave you without enough time to explore and find good gear before the bad guys start hitting even harder. *You’ll get plenty of levels, faster than you think, even at 1 INT.* Growing powerful isn’t only a matter of levels. *You’ll be stronger if you have great gear when you pop your next level.* Take it easy, don’t rush, go slow, and you’ll be better for it. --> _Pass every speech check_ with *11 CHR,* 100%! Low CHR builds, don’t fret: assemble a 3-piece _CHR set of clothes._ *Hat/glasses/suit,* for _+4._ Most *Alcohol* adds _+1._ Find *Daytripper* _+3._ Better yet, craft *Grape Mentats* at a Chemistry Station _+5._ There’s other ways, but with these, that’s a +13 buff already. *Bonus!* Your companion will come to your side and stay there if you crouch. And if *Dogmeat* only carries _25_ units, put a *bandana,* *welding goggles* or *dog armor,* and it’ll bump it up to _150!_

One thing I would add is that it's very difficult to tell were EXACTLY you went when trying to follow this guide 1-1. Like, I'm not nearly as familiar with the game and the map as you are, but sometimes you just say something vague along the lines of 'and then we're kinda just moving along here' and you cut the video in a position where I simply can't figure out how you got there... (e.g. vegetable stand, like... where the hell did you go? is it close to Oberland Station? I got extremely confused there...) A good solution might be to just show your location on the map every once in a while, so it's easier to follow along your path ;) Otherwise, great guide, thanks!

Love you content and love the game! I just think that a better and maybe less subjective way to make a Perk Tier List is to put on the S tier those really strong/necessary perks that could go on any build. For example, Lone Wanderer is insanely strong but if you use a companion than is completely useless. On the other hand, Idiot Savant is amazing no matter your build. Than you could put on A and B tier those awesome and really good perks but kind of specific. For C and D tier you could mix with some not so good and some others like the Dog perk (I forgot the name) which is good but just the level 4. The first three levels are kinda meh but the last one gives 10% damage resistance which is pretty good. For the F tier you gotta, just the 🐕 💩perks and that's it.
@leymcdonald1790Ай бұрын
1 luck? You don’t take idiot savant? That is the # 1 must for me. At 7 intellect, you still get way more exp and level up much faster.
@SuperTwonkyАй бұрын
The only requirement for this build is the charisma and intelligence stats. The rest you can do however you want, including setting luck to 5+ for Idiot Savant.
@tjbrodyАй бұрын
Idiot Savant, in my honest opinion, is a crutch. Just like lockpicking. Especially on survival where exp gains are doubled. Unless you are skipping most of the games content and zooming straight to the end of the story, there’s no need to fast track your leveling.
@leymcdonald1790Ай бұрын
@ when you get to level 50 and higher, leveling up is much slower, and when you start getting hardest enemies, say ghouls, and Savant kicks in (x3 for all enemies) you can get 600 xp for every ghoul, it’s worth it. No comparison with lockpicking which serves barely any purpose. Having more perks unlocked is always worth it.

@ by level 50 if you don’t have a complete build and gear loadout, and half the game complete, that’s a you problem. Anything above level 50 is icing on the cake.

Grape Mentats: -Hubflower around V111/Sanctuary area -Whiskey from Carla/Trudy south of Concord or Wellingham/Vadim in DC -Diamond City Blues quest gives a ton of Mentats & other drugs, just bring molotovs and your best gun -Guaranteed mentats in a Sanctuary house Diamond City: -Those mutants attacking DC guards can be a good source of pipe weapon mods if you're sticking with that weapon class -For the love of god, gun bash Piper to skip her damn dialogue. You will thank me -Take a bloatfly gland to DC Science! Center, pass some speech checks for easy caps. -Find Abbott, he needs paint. Any color will do but getting green will net a 50 cap bonus. Enter the back of the store he marks and sneak. Paint mixer is to the right on the other side of the wall. Avoid being seen and you can get out without a fight. -Moe Cronin & Solomon will send you west to the river. Do Moe's quest first then cross to the opposite bank and head north to Forest Grove. You can find a mutated fern before even getting to the location. Cross back and return the items. Moe's is apparently infinitely repeatable, always the same location and items in same places -Sheng is near Abbott, he needs to clean up the water supply. Pass the speech checks and clear out a handful of junk from the pond, easy caps. Acts as a minor merchant, mostly purified water. Miscellaneous: -Follow the power towers from Abernathy back NW past that trailer, there will be some radstags at the first one and the 2nd one has raiders. you can kill them for more ammo, armor and supplies. -Then with your back to Abernathy turn left and go over that rocky hill to find another dead raider and get his armor and such. By then you should have a mostly/complete set of armor -Overseer's Armguards are guaranteed to spawn as heavy combat arms, great boost to your resistances early on to help make up for the rest of your gear being lower quality pieces -If you're not rushing legendary armor, DC guard armor is decent for the early game. Concord: -Spam leveling to lvl 7, then grabbing R2 of Locksmith (Expert locks) will let you pick every lock in Sanctuary and Concord. -Concord Speakeasy (main road leading to Museum, left side) has plenty of bottles plus a couple rare drugs an End of Dungeon (EOD) trunk upstairs behind an Advanced lock door -Face Museum & turn left, last building on the right. Guaranteed bolt-action pipe sniper on the 2nd floor. By the suppressed bolt action pistol from Trudy @ Drumlin then swap the suppressor to your rifle

You can get a really good 1 int and 1 cha combat helmet at Covenant. Running back and forth between the drive in and hangman's alley allows you to do some great farming along regular spawn points. Don't forget the weightless cash at the bank every time you head to the drive in. This was a really good walk through I'd never make it on sudden death. Impressive !
@MrDavePed2 ай бұрын
At 35:20 you can loot the bank very regularly gaining a ton of weightless prewar money by approaching from the back and getting right next to the broken wall and jumping. Stay in sneak mode to avoid nearby ghouls. To automatically reach the loot inside the bank you'll need the loot detection mod. It also greatly helps you find corpses and special items. Highly recommended. The money at the bank spawns very regularly and it goes a long long way to buying everything you need. If you don't use the loot detection mod you can still grab a lot of cash laying on the ground and in that duffle bag.

Against blowflies at short range fast melee is best or use a shotgun while walking backwards to keep it in front of you. Walking backwards is usually a good idea if you are charged by any enemy. Of course VATS is very useful if you decide to use it, melee vats is best as you will almost always hit it. If no vats just keep swinging a fast melee weapon and those nasty flying beasts will fall. Back up to keep from getting flanked and go forward to close range as necessary. Use a combat knife because it does the best damage for a fast weapon. Pickman's combat knife is really good. I prefer to one shot them at range, then wait to recover hidden status. They can be very dangerous when they gang up on you.

The other was commenting that you were considering walking half the map from vault 81 to Sanctuary to use the weapons bench when you are only a few blocks from Diamond city... lol I'm sure your play style has changed in 5 years ,but its just fun to point out the interesting choices.

One of the biggest problems i have with fallout 4, is that builds feel really straight forward, and kinda boring at times. Though, I suppose its a personal bias because I come from the remnant franchize, a series that came to incentivize utility over flat damage buffs to diversify its builds and make everything feel unique. Just a personal gripe more than anything. Though, with the addition of a legendary overhaul mod that lets me modularly slot 5 different legendary modifiers onto a weapon, weapon forging becomes super complex and interesting.

@@SuperTwonky I finally got around to checking. As far as I can tell, you only need level 1 of robotics expert to craft the final two tiers of robot parts. So it is necessary to make full use of the DLC, but isn't essential. Especially because you end up picking up a lot of the robot parts from enemies so you don't need to craft them. Life Giver and Aquaboy/girl are easily tied for my favourite. Both are just too useful early game, especially on Survival. Nab the double swim speed book early and you can just use the rivers and ocean as a makeshift fast travel system that's safe from enemies. Life Giver is a must pick just due to the heavy damage you take from everything early on and since stims have weight in Survival, not having to carry as many is a small but decent benefit at rank 3. Sure crafting and damage perks are what really get a build rolling, but being able to access ballistic weave and a ton of useful gear for minimal effort early is just too helpful. Lead Belly can get bent though, I've never once needed it and even when I took it, it's just a good way to get diseases. There's a double meat book readily available early on so most of the run is usually me eating cooked dog or radstag.
