As long as I can remember my Nana and I would sing and dance to the song in her living room. I didn’t know what the lyrics meant until I was much older. She’s gone now and sometimes when I want to feel close to her, I still sing and dance thanks John Prine for such a nice memory that I can share with my best friend.

I would just love it if starkid could get the whole cast back together to do proper studio recordings of these songs with a proper orchestra and microphones just to make these songs sound so crisp, amazing and even more totally awesome than they already are. That would be a dream come true. But if that can’t happen, then I would settle for having these recordings on Spotify as my other dream but ideally the first option is my ultimate dream!

Woke up this morning Put on my slippers Walked in the kitchen and died And oh what a feeling! When my soul went through the ceiling And on up into heaven I did ride When I got there they did say John, it happened this way You slipped upon the floor And hit your head And all the angels say Just before you passed away These were the very last words That you said Please don't bury me Down in the cold cold ground No, I'd druther have 'em cut me up And pass me all around Throw my brain in a hurricane And the blind can have my eyes And the deaf can take both of my ears If they don't mind the size Give my stomach to Milwaukee If they run out of beer Put my socks in a cedar box Just get 'em out of here Venus de Milo can have my arms Look out! I've got your nose Sell my heart to the Junkman And give my love to Rose But please don't bury me Down in that cold, cold ground No, I'd druther have 'em cut me up And pass me all around Throw my brain in a hurricane And the blind can have my eyes And the deaf can take both of my ears If they don't mind the size Give my feet to the footloose Careless, fancy free Give my knees to the needy Don't pull that stuff on me Hand me down my walking cane It's a sin to tell a lie Send my mouth way down south And kiss my ass goodbye But please don't bury me Down in that cold cold ground No, I'd druther have 'em cut me up And pass me all around Throw my brain in a hurricane And the blind can have my eyes And the deaf can take both of my ears If they don't mind the size

DUDE I showed my bf this show for the first time last night. I hadn’t seen it since I was like 12 or 13 (I’m 24 now) and I forgot all about this part. It absolutely SLAYED me when it happened, I laughed so damn hard. Easily my favorite part of the show, and such a fun catchy song, too.

A lot to be said for this song being about an acid casualty type person who moves from a "wholesome" part of the country such as the south to someplace like LA or San Francisco and gets into drugs and kooky spirituality and ends up burned out. Barbara Lewis, the singer, disappeared in the 60s when her career went downhill. Funny enough, they found her a couple years after this album came out and she's still kicking, not an acid casualty. "Beauregard" is a common name in the south. "Hare Krishna" is a common religious group that annoyed people by aggressively pushing literature on them in public places. Brilliant freaking song.

I js typed out the lyrics from memeory have fun (I checked them with the song to make sure once I was done, just had to add an extra "With hermione granger" at the end) [Ron] Here I am, Face to face, With a situation I never thought I'd ever see Strange How a dress can take a mess and make her nothing less than Beautiful to me It seems like my eyes have been transfigured Something deep inside has changed Theyve been opened wide But hold that trigger This could mean DAAANNGGERRRRR [Pause] Im falling in love Falling in love Falling in loveeee I think im falling in love Falling in loooovee With Hermione Grangeeeeeer [Pause] [Draco] What? What the hell is this? You except me to sing about her? Dont care about her Its just a little makeup Draco wake up Im mistaken She is the HOTTEST girl ive ever seen! Now Because shes like a girl I've never seen Dont know why I'd ever be so meeaaannnn This could mean DAANNGGEERRRR I'm falling in love Falling in love Falling in love I could be falling in love Falling in love Falling in looooveee With Hermione Graannngeerrr [Ron] (Draco) [(I wanna let her know] I feel so queasy) [(But I cant let it show) she'd laugh poor weasley!] [(Cmon) Ron](Draco) [(You gotta let it goo)] [(You gotta let it goooooOOOO)] (What? What the hell is this?! I want to sing about her, sing about her)[Here I am, face to face with a situation I never thought Id ever see] (I want to make up, Granger, wake up! Ive been mistaken.) [Strange, how a dress can take a mess and make her nothing less than beautiful to me] (Sheee is the hottest girl ive ever seen, now, because shes like a girl I've never seen)[It seems like my eyes have been transfigured, something deep inside has changed) (Dont know why I'd ever be so meaaannn)[They've been opened wide so hold that trigger) [(This could mean....]) [Daaa(daanngerrrrr)] [(Im falling in love, falling in love, falling in love)] [(I think I'm falling in love, falling in love, falling in loovveee)] [(With Hermione Grangerrr)] [(With Hermione Grangerrrr)] [(With Hermione Graanngerrr)] [(Danngeeeerrrrrrr)]

There's a stray cat wondering in my neighborhood and I've started calling it Barbara Lewis Harry Krishna Beauregard. I'm pretty sure it was one that I was going to get 6 months ago from my friends kitten litter but he gave it away to someone else who "lost" the kitten a few weeks later. So, when I see the cat I belt out "Come back to us, etc"
