Looks awesome Dario, too bad there are so many seams to fix. You really did your research, lots of intereresting info on the movie. The additional details on the base look great. I'd be tempted to brush some Future over his eyes, mouth, hands and feet to make them look a little more shiny and wet. The snake looks amazing. Nicely done buddy.

Thanks. I did put Future on both the Creature and the lizard's eyes. I do not mind seams as long as they are 'fixable'. That came out really nice. I built one maybe 20 years ago. I went with a gloss green with a lightly brushed gold over that. That's the good thing about black and white movies - you can do any color you want to LOL. There have been other Creature model kits but this old Monogram model can still hold it's own - especially with the updated fixes you have done to the parts 👍

Nice work on fixing the deformed piece. Sorry you had those problems with it, they are usually a simple fun build. I've found that if the tracks are too tight, you can set them in hot water and stretch them slightly but be carefull not to pull too hard on them or they could be loose. Nice detailed explanation of making the base. Glad to hear you enjoyed the build, we'll have to keep watch for more of these kits. I still have one more tank and a bomber in my stash.
@dariosmodelbuilds23 күн бұрын
I looked into heating up the tracks but some websites were saying that heat would actually contract the rubber instead of expanding it so I did not try. At least in the end it worked out, despite being a pain to fix the issues. Very happy with the kit and glad you talked me into it.

This was one of three kits that used same frame, engine, tires but different body. I know that two were reissued. Had some of the same problems you had. I went for the gold look and lots of fake jewels. Also painted fabric of the crown with texture paint then purple matte. Nice thing about these kits, anything goes, have fun.
@dariosmodelbuildsАй бұрын
Yes,the scalemates entry shows the convoluted history of this kit. I've only seen one of the other two out in the wild. As I mentioned at the beginning, I also intended to go with the gold and then had a change of heart. I knew that if I tried fabric I would mess it up as I have no experience making contoured shapes. Let me know if there is a link to see an image of yours as I would love to see it.

Unfortunately we don't have Ollies (or Hobby Lobby) here in Canada. There are a few places where surplus model stock sometimes shows up at great prices, but nothing like Ollies. Looking forward to seeing your Tiki build.

A very different kit, you are getting good experience with the motorcycle builds. Looks great, good idea covering the seams with those stick on jewels.
@dariosmodelbuildsАй бұрын
Very unfortunate design since the top of the crown is so prominent. The those braces really should have been one piece but the designers must have had their reasons to split them like that. It would not have been an issue if it wasn't in chrome. The jewels (can't take credit for that as I came across some online picture where someone did that) was an act of desperation just trying to hide a very ugly feature.
