Hey Pete, I have a tyre machine too and last week I used it for the first time in over a year and the jaws wouldn't move .I had to smack them with a mallet to get them to work again. My question to you is what oil to use in the the air line to lube the internals of the machine, Looking on the internet there seems to be a lot of conflicting answers. I will go with what you recommend because you know your shit.

Thanks for taking us along for the ride. Great spending time with family. Later today I’m going to pickup my brother-in-law and take him to the power show with me, should be a fun few days. He used to ride bike but his health doesn’t allow that anymore so we can’t do that. Enjoy yourselves because as my father-in-law told me. Do it when you’re young because you can’t when you’re old.👍

Pete, this is great content! Not sure why your reviews and counts are not higher, however, not everyone own's a big backhoe. I have a 98 Case 590 Turbo and it locked up hard on me going downhill in reverse!! Front tires did a wheelie when the large rear tires locked up. I'm impressed with your skills in the backyard! I haven't tackled anything this size before but it looks like I need to see what went wrong and get'r fixed.

Thanks Damien, from what I've found on the interweb, and using the chassis & gearbox numbers, this is a very early 1941 model (maybe January or February??) I assumed it was the 60hp model engine, but in a 3 tonne truck, and of that year, it could be either the 85hp or the 90hp. Still trying to work it out. Thanks for the comment. :-)

I have an 8BA. It started as a 6 volt positive ground. I currently run it 12V negative ground. The starter doesn't seem to care about polarity. Somehow it just spins the way you need. Also the voltage doesn't seem to bother them. People run them at 12V all the time.

@@pete-mate3524 Mine is from a '49-'51 I believe. Might well have been made differently. I remember playing with little DC motors as a kid. I'd reverse polarity and they'd spin the opposite way. Mornin Pete . Our day started about 25c on its way about 45c today . But as we say , "it's a dry heat " 😳 When I was a kid , I could tell the brand of diesel engines of the time by the sound . Thanks to you and Steve I can now distinguish the sound of a Perkins 6-354 . I'm sure we had them here also , big not near as common as the Mack , Cummins and Detroits we had here. Hard to tell the new modern diesels , since they all have high pressure fuel systems and turbos now . Here is a question that I have thought about for the last week or so . Since you done the tyres on your loader. Why is it that the inside of the wheels do not rust far more than they do ? That old pump ran good and did its job perfectly mate . Was good to let work a little after a long rest . I agree with oldamericaniron on snakes. I just steer as clear as farI can from them. I agree , there was good variety in this video , keeps it interesting . Take care Pete , I will look forward to the next video . Scott 🌵

Hi again Pete, talked to you last evening and woke up this morning to the video. To an old guy like me the technology is still amazing. I remember when a “long distance “phone call an hour long to a place 40 miles away would have cost as much as driving there. Now we can communicate with someone on the other side of the world as much as we want for a small flat fee each month. I chuckled about the curry comment as I did have a curried chicken meat pie on the road trip with Steve and Nick to Dave’s place. I probably would have resorted to the cutting torch to cut down the cutting edge. Main thing is job done well. I think when it comes time to sell the purchaser can be confident he is getting a good machine.
@pete-mate3524
@pete-mate3524 2 ай бұрын
Hi Geoffrey, I also would have gone for the cutting torch if I had one! To be honest, I do actually have an oxy' kit, but the hoses are rotten and I struggle to justify paying the rent on the bottles given how little I use them. I have vivid memories of waiting until after 8pm to get the cheaper rate for the long distance calls from when I was a kid. As always, it was great to have a chat and catch up.

@@pete-mate3524 I’ve owned my own tanks since I got out of school. After helping my neighbor as a teenager and saw what you could do with torch it was one of the first things I bought! I’ve since bought extra tanks as always seem to run out when store is closed. But no, I don’t use it as much anymore and oxygen and acetylene have gotten ridiculously expensive. I use propane for heating and cutting and propane is cheap to fill out of my bulk tank for house.

Pete, seeing you at work made me think of a video I had. The farmer I work for also does farm drainage. The video is of pulling the 85,000 pound tile plow through a soft spot. It was mid winter at 3:00 in the afternoon and gets fully dark by 5:00. The temperature plummeted to 15 degrees Fahrenheit below zero that night. Would not have been a good time to get stuck. After we got through we spent 2 hours cleaning mud from tracks in the freezing dark. What fun. I sent the video to on WhatsApp.

Hi Pete, can you take the pinion out of the Isuzu without taking the diff centre out?
@pete-mate3524
@pete-mate3524 2 ай бұрын
Yes, but be careful as there is a bearing on the end of the pinion shaft that doesn't have a cage to hold it together. If it's worn a bit, the rollers can fall into the bottom of the housing.

@@pete-mate3524 Ok cool, I've got a 1992 NPR300 and the pinion has movement. I've just got the price from WANO at $830 for the kit. Would you have the bearing number for the pinion and spigot bearings?

I probably will have them at home (I'm still at work, just now). They'll probably be around half price from a bearing shop. But I'm not sure if it's the same diff centre in the 4wd / 2wd.
