i read somewhere that because the engines were removed before they towed it there was a weak point midship also , but like you said that thing was built from old school materials and methods but mother nature always will win, now you need to do a video on its surviving running mate the ss united states , slated to be sunk to create an artificial reef

The amount of political webs connected with Hitler and the Nazi party isn’t surprising by any means, but definitely headache-inducing. I actually haven’t heard of the ‘75 film. Definitely gives epic disaster-movie with all the big A-List stars. Good to see a film like it of the time about a true historical event. In other news, I didn’t know about the Los Angeles, and I’m from L.A.

It brings back memories of that day and that time. And to think, I was only in 4th Grade! And similar, in a WAY, to Titanic, as much as you feel you’ve learned and know about a certain widespread topic, it amazes me how much more there is to learn. Lesson is you can never stop learning.

I worked on the Esso Northumbria when she was on the launching ways and when she was fitting out. She was not the first super-tanker as stated on the video as I had worked on the same size vessel in Amsterdam the year prior to the Esso launch. However the Dutch built and launched their ship in two halves and welded them together in the river Ij. NDSM shipyard now gone. I am now 76 and still remember with fondness and pride my time in British shipbuilding. PS At 76 to a 100 dollars a barrel the ship paid for itself in three trips!.

I was on the ship's second to last cruise as a Royal Caribbean ship. 2nd cruise I've ever been on. I was 13 at the time and had a blast. I've been on a bigger ship like Anthem of the Seas before but to be honest, a ship like Majesty offers an experience you'll never get on those larger vessels. At night the decks barely had any people and were very quiet. I sat out every night watching the ocean. I hope one day I get to sail on this amazing ship again.

Nice video, man. I actually have a little bit of a soft spot for this movie since I first watched it in 2019 on YT. As a huge fan of the other Poseidon films, especially the 2006 one, I find this movie rather interesting despite its weaker elements. Its showcase of the villains' plans or charming interactions between the characters make it an enjoyable watch for me, along with the expansions on the lore of the ship itself. It definitely has problems, but I actually quite appreciate it and even get a little teary-eyed at scenes like Belle Rosen's or Mr. Acher's passing scenes. I also like they named the captain after the book's author. I would love to see you make a video covering the 2006 film. Also, FYI I think the old lady died from exhaustion for heart and all.

I love how even the newest and biggest of ferries resemble cruise ships from the 1970s and ‘80s, as far as the deck layout is concerned. The promenade-like mostly wrap-around passageway on the principle deck with low-key lounges and bars no more than two decks high and with many chairs and booths hugging around the stage or bar and/or TVs! I love it. This is not me complaining. And to think about how large she is for a ferry. Strange not to have a pool. I wonder what brought on that decision! Beautiful ferry overall. So interesting seeing people camp out. I…didn’t know that aspect about ferries. I live in Southern California. We don’t have ferries - especially not like this - where I live.

I know this video is old, but I feel like I should say my opinion about it. As a huge fan of the original Poseidon adventure and remake from 2006 (and yeah, I also like Beyond the Poseidon adventure), I can say this TV version is good. The design of the ship is for me great, even more than the 2006 version, because it's more based on the novel, where it is clearly said that the ship is kind of old and has a new owner, a new name, etc. What's more, I love white and blue together. The locations are also well done. About ballroom, I can say it's my favorite recreation. Looks like in the original movie, but with little modern changes. The characters are good, but I would like to see more about them. The dysfunctional family is one of the main plots that has much focus (in the novel they also have marriage problems, but it's not a main topic). The way they showed during the first hour of the voyage is amazing. I missed so much this part in other movies. To see how lively Poseidon was before the disaster, see as many locations as it's possible and get to know how the crew members worked. Small details, but for me very satisfying. The same I can say about the planning and rescuing parts. It's a nice touch to show this disaster from another perspective. The terrorist plot is also interesting, but I definitely prefer tsunamis created from earthquakes like in the original version and focus more on the passengers. Acting is not a strong side of this movie. I don't understand the survivors reactions when someone's died from their group. They just go forward without saying a word. There's no crying, breaking down, giving up... So unnatural, like they know it's just a fictional story. There's a lot of logical things in the whole. Why did the singer tear down her dress? I don't believe there wasn't any material to use. What's more, men had jackets; the boy had a blouse on him. They could use it instead of her dress. I know It was made to recreate the scene from the original, but it was unnecessary. Why does the camera work even though it has contact with water? How could they breathe at the end of the movie when they were technically in the room full of fire and pollution? I can be wrong, but in the novel the passengers know each other and also the crew members (that's why they call them by their names), because it's not their first trip on the Poseidon. I think they wanted to make something similar in this version, but it's not working fine. I would say it's a strong 6/10.

Well, there actually are some emotional moments for the characters in this film like Aimee, the singer, at one point had given up and said to Jeffrey if they were going to die and another scene where Aimee, who looked like she was about to cry, and the others who looked too shocked right after James’s death. Also, I don’t remember Dylan having a blouse but who cares, and also his camera might have been waterproof. And you also say that they could’ve suffocated at the catwalk part due to the fire burning the oxygen, but in the ending where they detonated the bomb to escape, you may notice that they are in a very large room with a few machinery and even a large engine, and in the catwalk part, there is a certain scene where you can see the same large engine room in the distance meaning both rooms connect so there is enough oxygen to supply for them.

She was a pretty little ship. So classy. Straight outta those 1930s screwball comedies. But what a tragic mystery. One that horror movie are made of. Tensions were high after the war. I wonder if that had anything to do with it.
