I have never played this game, but there’s something so earnest and lovely about the way he says “And I want it all” that sends me into a warm space and it soothes me.

I'm cleansing my brain from Dragon Age Veilguard by playing BG3 (for the first time!). The writing in this game is phenomenal. So many paths for such an interesting cast of characters. Such nuanced exploration of difficult topics. The absolute freedom to be as wicked or and pure as you want. Thank you Larian.

Look the ascension of Astarion is a mindfield of bad choices. However the choice of not ascending & releasing 7000 vampires into the underdark bieng the "good" choice. And Choosing to Ascend being the bad choice (because you'd be killing them all). Aren't that different morally when you realize 7000 vamps could wipe out entire cities if they don't control their appetites so you are now responsible for all the victims of the 7000 you released. Or arguably the most evil choice leaving them imprisoned for centuries starving into madness before ripping each other to shreds or turning to dust. From a practical standpoint super powered ally to fight a world ending super beast is probably better than not ascending and still killing all 7000 vamps because they are now undead and technically actually died their mortal death already.

I like watching this now because I know I will ascend Astarion..❤

His "but perhaps you are not worthy" line is so so cruel. The difference between this line and his in a thousand years line or his line with durge when he says "I'm not afraid of you your darkness" is insane INSANE. It's like he is 2 different people all together. Neil killed it in every way possible.

Someone pls tell me how do I get this ending ❤

If you go the non-romance route, then in the last dialogue you have with him in his quest line, he looks and speaks to you as if you are the best friend he has ever had, and someone he really cares for in that way, and that was just so adorable to experience

I chose not to hug him option and he seemed 'happier' imo, because he was obviously in a very vulnerable and sensitive moment and didn't seem ready for something physically 'genuine' just yet. It's hard to explain because when you go for the hug here, he seems to be confused and puts up a defense as if you mean to harm him. It's sad but just his response from trauma. I honestly think by not hugging him straight away, you are respecting his feelings and situation a bit more.

I like it. Angst is my crack. The more it hurts, the more I love it. I am definitely going to break both their hearts in my playthrough. 🤗

The voice actor of Astarian did an incredibly good job

ascended astarion is a complicated discussion but for one to choose his destiny one should know him. Astarion is my most beloved and i truly understand his want for revenge and the need to be the one above, it just comes natural after abuse, as they say that abused becomes abuser BUT he need not to. he can break the cycle, and trust me ik he is not obliged. i do not wish him to play as a kind person but to kill and become cruel. that's something he wouldnt want to. the drive for power is dire but he can not be put above his way. i want him to free himself. to become the abuser is just getting back into what he was running from the positions change but his heart doesnt. he fills the void with the hunger for power.

His response to telling him he was perfect when you met is so sad. It actually made me cry lol. I don't think I've ever cried over a game before.

So I am currently at my first playthrough (cause in my original first one I missed important scene and could not trigger romance and I reliased something is wrong when I got to Baldurs Gate) and now I am heartbroken because I literally have no idea what to chooooooseeeeeee

I know he's evil like this, but when he says, "That's what you want isn't it. To be mine...forever." My brain stops processing his evil and just melts into a puddle of submissive soup.

The first time I played they stayed and we chatted... the 2nd time they disappeared as soon as I entered the room.....😢

This is so heartbreaking ending. He will forever remain as a spawn and be afraid of the sun. He will forever be hungry..... No-no-no-no. I got this ending twice and i immediately reloaded my save file.

I ended my first run romancing Astarion, didn't let him ascend, and started a new run, telling myself I'll let him ascend on this one. Seeing this made me change my mind. There is no way I'd let him become this, oh god, it breaks my heart.
