Being a lifelong fan of James’s music, witnessing this brilliant musical friendship was definitely a treat to behold. Carole is a terrific artist, and their voices sound terrific together!

I’ve been playing guitar for a decade now and I have no clue how he gets those sounds out of the guitar.

I'm a huge jimi fan..a guitar player and i enjoy MAYER..he plays this basically right but ...hendrix switches and improvs each pass of the rythmn part( john repeats the exact thing ..)..to play it exacctly as hendrix did ...would take much more memorization..as well as that rare musical quality hendrix posessed...im not slaaggin mayer ..hes great and ❤its all good...and this is cool Hendrix did amazing things within basic formats...he often didnt play things the same... for a guitar freak like me..what ...it really shows me how brilliant and untouchable jimi is

2:30 to 2:53 is such a tasteful line of licks that sum up a couple inspirations of John. You got that high BB King note, the SRV shuffle and that Clapton run he does is all phenomenal; while still keeping it his own.

These three can burn the building down....I heard Clapton talking and someone brought mayer up....Clapton said "I knew John was good...but not like that "its cool to watch Clapton when he plays with john....he kind of steps back and smiles....because John is just that damm good

Best part of this performance, is Mendes had a suite with his friends and family. Told them he was going to the washroom and then all of a sudden he was on stage. They were as shocked as everyone else was to see him up on stage with John Mayer!

Shawn may be able to hit those notes ,but john's voice is just so much better.if he just talked it would sound better than shawn ,and I don't hate Shawn he's nice.

Not that it would be all that difficult for him, but I guess John is playing his parts of Mercy in Esus2 tuning, since he doesn't switch guitars for the two songs. That's pretty cool.
