FYI - I feel like he still CAN pull out his scream he’s just very careful / reluctant to do so (especially since he’s gotten sober) - although I will say - it’s hard to tell if John Feldman just juices up his “PG-13” screams into the R rated ones we hear in “To Feel Something.” Granted, The Canyon was recorded live / to tape - so that could have been why the screams on that album sounded half speed. Frankly I’m impressed that his voice held together so well through out the recording of that album. Yeah either way it’s tough to tell - I used to feel super butt hurt about the fact that he no longer screamed - but now that I’m older I’m just so proud of him for evolving into the person he is now. I’m bummed that the pandemic fucked him up so much. In 2019 he looked as young and as trim as he did he did in 2002. Most of all he looked so happy. I think he’s getting it back, but you can just see how much pain the pandemic brought him :/

Songs with Michael vocals always end up as worst or least streamed songs on the album. Emotions is their worst song ever, even Michael said his fav song on the album is Bleach. Emotions is literally everyone least fav song.

I went to the Cincinnati show and loved it! I absolutely agree that they all looked like they were having so much fun up there. I haven’t seen them smile that much on stage before, it was so nice to see ☺️ Also that was my first time seeing BMTH too. I’ve never really listened to them before, but became a fan after the concert and Throne is my favorite song!

It was also my first time seeing BMTH! It was a full circle experience since they performed in the same venue that I performed in when I was doing indoor marching band back around 6 years ago. Back then I was going through a dark time and I listened to the Sempiternal album and it was like free therapy for me. I remember listening to the album between sets in that venue since it was like four hours between sets. The couple months before when they released LosT , the guitarist Lee Malia liked my guitar cover of the song which was beyond amazing. It was just an all around great experience 🖤

What made you think he couldn't scream anymore? He can do screaming and screamo BETTER than he could in the old days since he got clean. He's able to much better control and flex his singing muscles.

I did not like the vibe of this album at my first listen, but I was in a pretty bad place then. Much better now, really took the time to dive into it last week and at least when counting the % of songs I can listen to on repeat, this is my favourite album right now. Vessel for example has Migraine and Holding On To You which I could listen to every day, but also songs I don't really care for. This one is just overall good. Also I hope you'll do these for the future albums to come bc I really enjoy hearing your thoughts (and I just saw I basically wrote that 3 years ago as well for Trench lol).

Something curious about the song Never There is that in the video version the guitars at the end of the bridge and on the outro are tuned down, while in the album version you can hear more guitars in those parts. If you listen to the album version and then go back to the video version though, you can still hear those extra guitars I talk about but they are so low you can barely notice

I like this band ever since I discovered this game called Obscure in where their song Still Waiting was the intro theme. Sum 41 is a band that I didn't fully like at first but the more I discovered of them the more I began to enjoy their music and today they're one of my fav bands. There isn't a sub genre of rock I don't remember them playing, they touched everything from punk to alternative, pop, metal, grunge, even electronic at some point and Derek is so underrated as a vocalist. He sounds amazing in Screaming Bloody Murder and curiously enough, this album is where I remember him sounding the best, no other album did better vocally wise I don't get why he didn't pushed himself like that ever after this album
