Dude The Used has been around for like 15 years, they’re huge in the emo music scene. Bert and Gerald from MCR are like married at the hip. They are big, maybe you’re just too young.

1:22 Bert did intentionally do that 😉 That's a staple of Bert's writing and The Used. He's done it on every single album "besides the first because obviously there wasn't something before it to reference". Every album has lyrics and little Easter eggs referencing past albums and lyrics he's written. It's very intentional. He told me so 😉 Asked him about it and he said he's surprised more people don't ask him about it or mention it. Guess you gotta really know their catalog and lyrics to catch some of them. But some are from some of their most popular songs and choruses.

Loved your review! FYI - I feel like he still CAN pull out his scream he’s just very careful / reluctant to do so (especially since he’s gotten sober) - although I will say - it’s hard to tell if John Feldman just juices up his “PG-13” screams into the R rated ones we hear in “To Feel Something.” Granted, The Canyon was recorded live / to tape - so that could have been why the screams on that album sounded half speed. Frankly I’m impressed that his voice held together so well through out the recording of that album. Yeah either way it’s tough to tell - I used to feel super butt hurt about the fact that he no longer screamed - but now that I’m older I’m just so proud of him for evolving into the person he is now. I’m bummed that the pandemic fucked him up so much. In 2019 he looked as young and as trim as he did he did in 2002. Most of all he looked so happy. I think he’s getting it back, but you can just see how much pain the pandemic brought him :/

Madd Music i wasn't so sure how i felt about (i hate this song) but I felt like it grew on me an finally found a purpose.

I havent stopped listening to this album. I wanted to see what the community was feeling, since its been out a while now. It was AWESOME to see you react almost exactly the way I did to all of these songs. Also good to see how much people still loved the Used like I do!

I normally cringe like real quick when watching reaction vids, but you did a good job, felt natural and you came across as a nice person too.

"Heartwork" is incredible. It saddens me that it was quite unsuccessful. I can't believe such a perfect album was created, I'm happy to be among those who listened to it. It's an album that leaves you so amazed. So many musical genres; all of them sounds better than any other band the tracks seem to be inspired by (f.e BIG WANNA BE -> Imagine Dragons; Cathedral Bell -> Billie Eilish; Clean cut heals -> Linkin Park's "One more light" in the verses and Maroon 5 in the chorus). The only ones that didn't particularly impress me are "Wow, I hate this song" and "The lighthouse" (could have been better). Bert's voice is indescribable; the album is fun to listen to and it is deep and unpredictable at the same time. Your reaction is exactly the one I showed when I heard it for the first time. A great album by The Used ♥️

Yes, that's Bert screaming at the end of To Feel Something. He can still scream he just chooses not to do it live anymore because of how damaging his specific technique is
