I will always love Ace. Kiss was first concert in 1976. Sad to see a once great player fade this way. A lesson for anyone who cares to hear it... If Ace hadn't got messed with drugs and booze, he'd likely be retired now with 100 million dollars in assets.

Lots of other musicians made millions on drugs. Your argument doesn’t hold water. Some did great until they got OFF drugs.

Poor Ace looks like he'd rather be somewhere else--bored, indifferent, phoning it in. He can't be bothered to sing in tune, & clearly doesn't care. Very ham-fisted drumming, a million miles away from the swing and dexterity of Peter Criss. The music is nailed to the floor. What a slog.

@@paulpeterson8952 Keith Richards is 81 & is still playing very well indeed. John McLaughlin is 83 & still killing it. Robert Fripp is 78 & at the top of his game. Ace has been fucked up for fifty years, & the Pentatonic scale sent him a cease and desist order! I don't wish I could do that. I do much more interesting music, I'm not playing a feeble version of a solo I played in 1973. Poor Ace. He went off the rails again after splitting with his last fiancee, & has been in a shambolic state, gigging in a dead end because he fucked up his finances & needs the money. The IRS won't let him work outside the US until he pays off his back taxes--a considerable sum. On goes the slog.

@@ingodwetrust2490 I'm not out to knock Ace. He was on his game big time in the early days. Guys like Ace & Peter would have ended up in jail or prison stints if they hadn't been able to go professional as rock musicians. Gene & Paul were not crazed Bohemians, they were very cynically matter-of-fact about the music biz, they weren't on the youthful street-level reality/drunken cocaine madness trajectory. Ace & Peter added the element of hazard to KISS, when KISS swung like mad & rocked liked hell, before the late 1970s Super-Kiss indulgences, Las Vegas Floor Show costumes, etc. Just to give some context about my remarks, re "poor Ace" : Poor Levon Helm, Aretha Franklin & George Clinton had to go out and play smallish to medium venue gigs in their advanced ages (early 70s) because they were, for various reasons, broke & in debt. But they didn't phone it in. Ace did some especially shambolic gigs last year, he was quite obviously shwacked on stage, wandering into the wings in the middle of songs, & at one point delivering a slurred monologue about his former fiancee. Ace should be elegantly retired & beachside on St Barts, instead of stumbling about amidst a sloppy, out of tune version of "Parasite", no? Post Ace & Peter, KISS devolved from a band to a brand.

@@paulpeterson8952 I'm a multi-instrumentalist recording artist, not a gigster, Auld Sparkle. And I don't do three chord, verse-chorus rock from the 1970s. Poor Ace is on a dead end street.

@@paulpeterson8952 That's right, Captain Clueless--The Beatles stopped touring in 1966, released Sgt Pepper in 1967, fooling the world with technology and studio tricks that covered up their obvious lack of talent. Great point. Have a nice soft chewy cookie and take a nap now.

Phil and the Illegals opened up for the final Slayer tour in 2019. It was the prequel to the Pantera tour. They announced it was going to be all Pantera songs. Sold out show in Asheville NC. All 12,000 people showed up for Phil. I have never seen a concert where every ticket holder showed up for the opener.

@Taras-Nabad there's actually tons of people there, it looks empty because it's a stadium and Pantera is opening for Metallica. Once Metallica started every seat was full. This isn't a reflection of pantera, it's just knuckleheads tailgating in the parking lot.
