So, why don't you just work from under the machine with it on the side? I realise that you don't need to disassemble the machine to that extent. You're only after the bearing and so take the inner bowl off of course and for that you don't have to remove the top with the electronics- you just undo those two screws and pivot back the cover as it's designed to do that, hook it up and take the bowl out, then temporarily place the top back, secure it and lay the machine on it's side to work underneath? ((Yes remove those agitator inner bowl plastic splined parts that are for the floating bowl and it disconnects the locking for the bowl (agitate/ spin actions); for taking the shaft out, but not needed to do so if you're just cleaning the inner bowl, not doing a bearing.)) 😊

Great video. I've seen a piece of brooker rod with washers slightly smaller in diameter than the bearings and a nut above each bearing, sometimes you may need additional washers depending on the inside diameter of the washers so the nuts are secured. Then only a matter of lining up the bearings in the housing and tightening both nuts progressively until the top and bottoms are seated correctly. A decent pin punch or brass drift is also great for knocking out the old seal and bearings

It's honestly not supposed to be that way with sorting, but sometimes it's easier to just throw everything in. I've become a better sorter since then, as I like to separate my loads by fabric type. I also sometimes take colors into account, especially if there is a risk of color bleeding.

To me the wash performance of the gentle Annie outshines that of the direct drive. The direct drive sounds clunky and the clothes just moved downwards. On the gentle Annie, they washed from top to bottom back-and-forth, definitely more aggressive washing.

I managed to replace the motor in my Maytag MAT13, I didn't need to worry about the no adapter harness business as my motor harness was just a 1 piece and it only took me almost half an hour to do as i did the 2 belts as well, as one was frayed as! I have done some videos and will do one with the front panel off! Also my Maytag is dated to September 2004!

@@drsenseihugo The Direct Drive motor didn't go into production until 1991 with the Smartdirve machines. This washer has a brushless, direct current, variable speed motor and is the only Fisher & Paykel machine to have a belt drive. It took 5 years of development and spent 6 years on the market before being replaced by the Smartdrives in '91.

I wonder how this machine detects out of balance load
@grnappliance7297Ай бұрын
There is a metal lever on the top right side of the machine. If there is an out-of-balance load, the basket has to hit the lever several times before the machine stops the spin and attempts rebalancing.

@@grnappliance7297 That's the good part, unlike these new machines you can wash slightly unbalanced items. I put a heavy coat (alone) in the GWL11 once and it banged a bit but managed to spin and spray rinse perfectly. For mildly unbalanced loads, F&P manages to fix itself in the spin

Bro, I just done this and every youtube video ive seen its all been easy peasy including yours. It took me hours to bash the old bearings out. It took me hours to put the top bearing in. The shaft was stuck on the tub and had to bash that out too lol. I dropped the stator and broke some of the plastic. It was really not a nice experience. Somehow I have a working washing machine again 😂

I had a Maytag in a house I bought. 22 years old and still going strong when we sold house 5 years later. If new house didn’t have a Maytag I would have took them. Basic and easy to fix myself. New house had a 1986 Maytag Dryer and a Maytag Neptune front washer. I loved the washer but it died within six months. Dryer lasted 5 years but was hard to repair. My friend took it, fixed it and gave it away. I bought a new Maytag set. Not the same but job gets done
@grnappliance7297Ай бұрын
The Maytags before the 2000s were made with a very reliable drive train (Originating from 1966). The washers afterward didn't have the same quality as the old platform, and Maytag was bought by Whirlpool in 2006 who killed off all their designs. I'm glad to have one of the older, dependable Maytags.

@grnappliance7297Ай бұрын
The Gentle Annie was developed and produced by Fisher & Paykel, but it was sold under several different brand names including Fisher & Paykel, Shacklock, Kelvinator, and Frigidaire. Although this machine says Shacklock on the panel, it can be said that it is actually a Fisher & Paykel.
