this might actually be the worst film they've done. not necessarily the *most* unpleasant or offensive, but this is the hardest I've ever tried to actually follow the plot of one of these and I still had to look it up on wikipedia to figure out what the plot was supposed to be. Maybe a skill issue, I don't know...

This episode is best for seasoned MST3K fans. I wouldn't show this one to introduce someone new to the show. The riffing is gold, but good grief this movie is a drag.

I can think of far worse movies to watch than the Coleman Francis trilogy. At least Coleman’s movies are hilariously bad. Such a weird, goofy mix of incompetent directing, bad audio, inept writing, terrible/awkward acting, and many other things. This is better than watching a boring movie, like Monster A Go Go. Nothing happens.

I think this is Coleman Francis’ worst film, even worse than Red Zone Cuba (which is a very close second). That movie had more plot and structure than Beast of Yucca Flats, at least by comparison. This movie just feels like no effort or thought was put into it. The narrator sounded like he was just making it up as he went along, the dialogue always being off screen was one of the oddest and dumbest choices this movie made, there is practically no plot or structure, and it’s as slow and boring as possible. It’s definitely his most unwatchable film. One of the worst movies they’ve ever done, second only to the Wild World of Batwoman (in my opinion). Mike and the boys can barely make this watchable.

A man trying to direct. Black and white desolate landscapes. A woman's purse. Long shots following cars and planes. A man on the moon. Coleman Francis.

Love the pre-movie host segments in this one too, that mob dude just grabs Dr. F and repeatedly starts braining him to death with that pipe or something. And Servo, looking like a small robotic Sydney Greenstreet in that tuxedo~

I can imagine Coleman Francis accidentally falling into making movies after picking up film equipment from an army surplus sale of stuff left over from the Korean war. Seems inspired by black coffee, cigarettes and Salisbury steak. Probably refers to people using geographical slang terms such as "limey, jap, yank, chink, frog..." etc. Drinks Hamm's beer. Capricorn.

Always wondered if the scene where they try to pull open the convertible top @1:12:10 but couldn't was real or not. Maybe they really did try to, and just happened to film it. Doesn't seem to have anything to do with the rest of the plot, and the Cook actor looked really cold.

Good nuclear parable- Godzilla, a film that spoke to the utter devastation of a people who faced catastrophe on an entirely unimagined scale Bad nuclear parable: “PROGRESS BAD BECAUSE NUCLEAR BOMB TESTING TURN SCIENTISTS INTO ANGRY MONSTER SCIENTISTS, LET ME NARRATE RANDOM PHRASES AT YOU FOR AN HOUR BECAUSE IM SO SMORT”
