Is aftertouch polyphonic? Does it works also with a midi hardware synth?

It is but it doesn’t have a midi out to connect to a hardware synth sadly.

For the average home/ hobbyist this is total overkill. I built a DAW PC for small home studio based around a Ryzen 5600G CPU and 32GB of RAM on a 1TB SSD earlier this year and THAT was overkill. It ran Reaper with full blown virtual instruments (EZ Drummer, Bias FX), and MIDI instruments no problem. It did multitrack recording sessions for bands in a studio no problem. Heck, my old bands last EP was tracked live on a 7th gen Intel NUC box. This spec is total, utter overkill. Save your money. You're welcome.

It's actually about future proofing. It's better to not worry about updateing for a few years than be on the lookout always. Also, i'm just stating my experience. If someone is interested in the facts that i showed here, it's their choice in the end if they want to buy or not. The Cpu is already obsolete with the new ryzen 9 Cpus already out. I prefer to be chill and not worry about the future :D Cheers!

It does not record. It is a midi controller. It plays samples from your computer.

Good choice for the CPU. I followed exactly the same reasoning and built my music workstation few months ago, around Ryzen 9 7900 (non-X). The difference is that I also wanted a miniature PC, so I made a mini ITX build.

You should have done this with plugins like Ozone, neutron, proQ3, Waves, SSL I think mixing is more CPU intensive than production.

Different kind of m-vave. For example, you can’t connect 2 mixers, but you can connect one mixer and one pad.

The clip launch mode must be on toggle. You can find that in options somewhere.

Yes. You can try recording in loop. Loop 4 bars and then add layers on different channels. I have a video about 4 ways to live loop. Watch it, maybe it will help you.

Considering this doesn't have pressure sensitive pads but the SMC-Pad does, this won't cut as an affordable MPE capable isomorphic keyboard.

I also disliked the "arm" concept of the minilab - but I found the "auto arm selected track" option which is described by many youtubers here, maybe you could also like it? For me this is perfect! What I like about the minilab against all other controllers - I keep the encoders in device parameters mode, so I can tweak the sound of the track which is selected, and the faders have control over the volume - without any shift combination, this was a must for me. I can switch the tracks and even go to the main output track and change the volume there - so perfect setup for me for the use as an ultra compact live session controller ;)

I’ve tried it but when i recorded in a loop it seemed odd, can’t remember why now as it was 2-3 years ago. Maybe when going back to a track it would arm it again and record over, and i didn’t like that so i could’t do breaks in the songs for that little bit more spice 😁
