What size hooks do you run?
@reltonsfishing81Ай бұрын
for my Snapper rigs I go a bit bigger and run 5/0 hooks and for sharks 7/0 or 8/0, The reason I go 5/0 on the snapper rigs is you get a lot of sharks so it helps plus I fish really big baits off shore and want the hooks to match the bait size.

Outstanding KZbin video boys. Love watching all the local Vic fishing. But you give me anxiety when trying to gaff a gummy. We only net them or grab them by the tail. I’d hate to lose an outstanding fish like that. Keep up the amazing videos. Would love to watch you fillet the gummy one day. It’s always good to see how others do it too

He caught heaps of fish ... the camera on his side was not facing where it should so all the footage was no good ... I usually have the head cam on me and a cam set up looking over the other person.. last 3 trips it hasn't worked so im getting a camera mount that doesn't move. The one I have can be moved around but in the swell it always ends up pointing down

Hi. Great video. Can you describe the setup of your drift anchor? Brand? Material of rope? Configuration? Length of rope? Size / volume of drift anchor? I notice one of the ropes had a loop with the other rope sliding inside this loop, etc. Can you describe this configuration? Why choice to tie from stern and not from other parts of boat? Thank you Cameron
@reltonsfishing81 Жыл бұрын
Gday mate .. great questions . I use a para anchor made in Tasmania. I have it bridled to the stern of the boat because when I drift the lines trail out the back of the boat and not under the boat and the line doesn't rub on the sides. The Para Anchor comes with all the ropes except the bridle. I have the bridle connected to the gunnel on each side then they join about 1.5 meters behind the motor and the the rope the to the parachute is about 13 meters long.. I Actually got a new one for Christmas which has a trip line that is connected to the rear of the parachute so you can empty the Shute before pulling it in. The new one is suited to boats 6 meters and my boat is 5.5 so it should work well. I am planning on talking about the new one and how I use it in the next video I make ... cheers .. thanks for watching

@@reltonsfishing81 many thanks for reply. Can you forward me the web link for this new drift anchor you just got for Xmas? I have the 670C Bar Crusher. What size drift anchor do you recommend I use using the brand of anchor you use? What size thickness and type of rope do you use for this drift anchor?
@reltonsfishing81 Жыл бұрын
Rope will come provided and you will order the parachute that suites your boat .. my boat is 5.5 meters so I got the one suited for boats up to 6 meters .. I got the fisherman 4 you would need the fisherman 5 .. adventuresafety.com.au/most-searched/para-anchor-fisherman-series-and-inwater-kit/

I'm about 100km from Portland. Get some great seafood here. I don't fish much anymore but am a regular customer at the seafood outlet here. I got my Xmas crayfish this year, it's a bit unusual. a 1.3 kg tropical lobster, doesn't look like a Western Australian one. I'm wondering if it came from the University of Tasmania rock lobster aquaculture project.
@reltonsfishing81 Жыл бұрын
Gday, they are usually caught locally and are fresh off the boats.. unless things have changed

Yeah, this isn't a southern one, not sure where it came from, I should have asked, it was from a reputable seafood wholesaler.@@reltonsfishing81

Having crushed/broken my hand racing the Vic Offroads when I got my hand caught in between a tree and the handlebar going full noise I too know that what you expect or be able to do when the cast and wires come out is different to what you can actually do. I had wires in mine and was due to get them out after 4 weeks. Booked myself in for a race the week after my wires were due to be removed. After they were removed and I went to move my hand and I could barely move my fingers a couple of mm’s it was clear I’d underestimated the recovery time. 6 years on and it’s still not right. It’s 90% but I notice when I’m doing fine motor skills and I need to change hands to my non preferred hand as it’s easier… Good luck with the recovery. Would love to see what you and Alan were catching the Tuna on, how you run your spread, how you actually troll for them etc.
@reltonsfishing81 Жыл бұрын
Ill be fishing tomorrow and ill cover those things you mentioned. We caught the Tuna on Xrap magnum 20 and 30 and a 10cm skirt .. we ran the skirts on the outsde annd the lures in the middle the 30 dives 9 meters and the 20 dives 6 meters and the skirts on the surface .. trolling speed was 12.5 to 13kph
