cool what makes rust on the inside of the valve cover a good and bad sign? I've got a 6.5 diesel with a valve cover leak and I am trying to figure out how to take it all apart and put it back together again so it doesn't leak

What are you referring to when you say 85 degrees for the rod bolts?
@corytaylorbuilds2566Ай бұрын
@@shuvinblind once you torque the rod bolts to base torque, you are going to turn them 85 degrees. This is going to be your torque. They sell a special dial tool to achieve this as almost all auto parts stores!

Ruined the integrity of them heads. Im sorry i dont trash talk but there is no way the gains are worth grinding through the bolt wall and loosing that strength..
@corytaylorbuilds25663 ай бұрын
@ArthurFleck-tx9di no strength is lost, cnc port jobs will do the same thing and go through into the bolt hole. As well as with old smallblock chevy heads!

You are just plain wrong. That bump decreases the CSA, and bolt only needs 1.5x the diameter in thread engagement for full strength.

i think these cars are so interesting simply from the fact that they are one of the only American cars ever made with factory turbocharged V8s. i would have a blast restoring one of these some day.

Very informative! My son was driving his 2007 Infiniti m35x a couple days ago and the engine just, stopped. Would not crank again after that. Hit the button to start and the started engages and just does not turn. We had it towed home. Today I put a ratchet and socket on the cranks and it will not budge. I'll bring home my long 1/2" ratchet from work tomorrow and try it, but I am pretty sure it is locked up tighter than a drum. 😭 And dude, please wear some gloves! My body recoils each time you rubbed your fingers on those spun bearings! 💀

Watching this teardown i was hoping to see how your fuel pump was connected to the injector pump. It looks like it did not have the secondary fuel filter. So fuel is pulled by the fuel pump through the primary fuel filter and pushed through my secondary fuel filter thouugh the fuel heater line to the injector pump. I could not see how yor fuel was sent to the injector pump from the fuel pump, could you explane it to me I have a 1983 k10 6.2 diesel. Am.have air getting into the system.

Sweet ride and great video! I bought a clapped out 80 Z28 when I was 18 that was an old street strip car with a 4:10 posi. Had a B&M shifter that I didn’t know was on its last legs. Was going through the gears hard one final time and hit park at warp speed. Car a did a 180 and stalled out. I figured I grenaded my t-350 but when I restarted the car I felt it grab drive. Drove to work and did my shift and expected a big red puddle when I clocked out. WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT DIDNT LEAK A DROP?? The t-350 gets my vote for best transmission ever after that lol. Sorry for rambling just wanted to share my ratchet shifter cautionary tale 🤣
@corytaylorbuilds25664 ай бұрын
@Chris-qv5mc I love hearing story's like that! I used to own a 1979 all black trans am with the 403 olds and a th350, that car had 2.43 rear gears so it was a great cruiser. I used to take it to the drag strip for fun. One day during a test run I accidentally popped it into neutral instead of 3rd at full throttle, and since they didn't have rev limiters back then, I watched the tach hit 10k before I had time to react 😅 fully expecting to need a new engine, I was extremely surprised to drive away with out so much as a lifter tick from that 403. Still to this day one of my favorite engines!

its not a good car ...prone to rust and the engine is so dated (my honda 1.5 makes 205hp stock). But I like the ride and Tinted T tops, perfect for a rainy city like Vancouver. As a daily driver it cannot compare to my Honda 1.5T...response, fuel mileage etec. As a orginal Trans AM I cannot enjoy worrying about dings and dents, bad weather and parking.. Sell the orginal and buy a survivor, junk the engine and update the car so you can enjoy it.

Bro, did you ever run these heads? That bowl looks pretty large in the video, so I just wondered if this engine was a little on the lazy side on the bottom if it's an N/A deal! I'm not being the YT know it all, I've always tended to probably ask too many questions, but I generally end up with a pretty good understanding of things in the end. Did you just do this set for the video? I'm surprised that you didn't get a valve job done. You can normally pickup roughly as much power there as doing all the other work and you got a valve job done! We know that all LS heads need a valve job if they have any miles with the way they pit on the exhaust side and the only contact the valve is usually making with the seat is a little pencil-tip thin ring way outside. At least that's my experience with the ones I come across. I'd imagine I rarely see one under 200k...

I'm building my 1985 nissan . What kind of ls generation and tranny is the best for my z31?
@corytaylorbuilds25665 ай бұрын
A gen 3 ls is alittle easier to work with, however gen 4 is alittle bit stronger of an engine. If you can get a t5 out if a 3rd gen V8 camaro or firebird, that is a cheap option for a granny that will fit better in the trans tunnel. However, if you can do alittle more massaging to the trans tunnel and have the extra money, a t56 is a much better option.

Dont remove the swirl ramps on intake bowl .
@ptbelttactics9 сағат бұрын
The swirl ramp is to improve fuel efficiency at low rpm, and hurts flow opposite the short turn at high velocity and lift. Every good porter takes it out.

If the VIN from that registration doc is the one from that car, it's not a Turbo Trans Am but a N/A 301 Trans Am. It's very odd someone would swap a Turbo engine in one of these as they were a bit problematic.
