Also gear question: before going for the Hapax did you try to use your syntakt in full midi out mode just to use the elektron sequencer in this workflow?
@soffter16 күн бұрын
Oh def I've used the Digitakt and Syntakt as brains for modular rigs a bunch of times. There are things that the Elektron sequencer is not especially good at doing like : meaningful polyphony, Interpolating vales (smooth traveling between two values) , creating performance macros, and a bunch of other stuff, arguably the new Digitone has a poly note editor, but it's weird to express that without a grid imo, a grid like the Hapax or the polyend stuff shows you how notes overlap, timing etc. ALSO - the Hapax has a ton of midi effects, retrig, pattern grid Ala Ableton style, generative functions, way more scales and ways to interpret data. I'm still pretty fresh on it, but my initial impressions are that it is HIGHLY polished and incredibly intuitive, which just makes it fun as hell to use. but, I can only speak for myself here.
@BorisBerger16 күн бұрын
@@soffter Ty for in depth comparison! Your point about changing mindsets regarding MIDI as time goes on definitely hit home, I once thought it was uber-lame too hahaha I am now looking around for a master sequencer similar to Hapax, but not sure im ready to enter my "grid daddy" era. That might change as I follow your journey through it!

the intro dancing brings me joy every time! I guess this is a common sentiment, but i adore the syntakt analog tracks and loathe the digital ones - almost unusable. my volca FM sounds better. im always trying to drown out the digital sounds in effects to make them tolerable. and similar feelings as you about digitone II - i guess they’ll never update the digitone i anymore, which is frustrating cause a few little tweaks would go a long way (like keytracking for some fm ratios), but i feel like i’ll be holding on to it for awhile. and wow, shocked at the digitakt ii timestretching!
@8thmythАй бұрын
To be fair I think if they add/refine some of the digital machines in syntakt, add some of the new probability conditions, 3rd lfo, comp/fx, cntrl all select and quantized scales I think we would be fine without 128 steps and would complete syntakt. Mod button I have no clue

@@soffter Have you seen the trick where you can create punch-in effects using fill trigs, if you sequence the Digi boxes externally? That's what I had hoped Syntakt's ModFX would be; but for sequences running on-device. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6WxnqisjqmprJo

Ableton's Collision actually doesn't use comb filters, it uses a series of parallel resonant bandpass filters which act to resonate and bring out certain frequencies in the impulse/noise signal.
