The motor is a teskid block stroked to a 302, livernois race ported heads, oversized valves, degreed in custom cams, ported lower intake manifold, vmp race intercooler, arh longtubes to x pipe and race bullets. Boost is a measure of restriction on the intake side. The motor is very efficient.

@@brian03cobra that makes sense then, added displacement and free er breathing make a huge difference, So your moving enough air to sound like a stock block 4 valve 4.6 at 25 to 30 psi. The nice thing about superchargers is you get to see the pressure drop as you improve how much the engine breaths, where as a turbo will spin up a little more to meet its waste gate setting.
@brian03cobra4 ай бұрын
@A2J_Tim that's exactly what is happening. From the log, you can see around 15.5psi, and by the time I shift it's around 13.5 / 14. A stock motor with this pulley combo, in my area (elevation) would net around 21lbs. I'll be running a 2.8 upper next time out and I'm hoping we'll see 20/21lbs.

@brian03cobra5 ай бұрын
Have you thought about going to a 6r80 as that will get you OD too? Much better for your platform than a 4r. For me, I really like shifting and being able to street drive. The 4r with mvb drives great with my setup and is easy to street drive. I miss the 6 speed but my car is 99% track now so it made sense to go with the 4r.
@Flyingsangwich5 ай бұрын
@@brian03cobra 6r80 is a practical option but I feel like i'd get bored with an auto, and the 6r80 would upshift early if pedaling during traction loss. I'd prefer to have the ability to manually shift since i'm giving up a 6 speed. Also with any with a mvb auto I dont have to change the manual pcm/harness. the goal would be to have a car that can do no/low prep digs and rolls on street, the closest track is too far rn but they are building a new 1/8 near me soon. how is the responsiveness and can you manually downshift for a roll?

Hey what's up! Alex's shows are great. All the basic stuff is needed for the swap and some of it depends on specifics (type of shifter preference, driveshaft type, etc). My setup is unique as i have a 25.5 cage with extra bars added underneath and a 9". No retune needed. Choose a stall based on what you want to do with the car. Overall, i really like the swap.

Very clean! Is the Roush tensioner better than the thumper? I thought it was the other way around? Did you notice a big temp difference with the intercooler and 1" adaptor? What water/coolant mixture do you run? When I had my cobra I would run 70% distilled to 30ish% of coolant with half a bottle of water wetter. Being in a state that doesn't see freezing temps, I took full advantage of that. You're from south Cali, right? You should run at least 70% water if you're not already. Better cooling. Heck, my buddy is doing all distilled water with a bottle of water wetter once it gets hotter here in FL
@brian03cobra Жыл бұрын
The roush holds over double the tension that the thumper does. It needs to be properly spaced with washers to line up the belt. Otherwise, it is an easy 5 min bolt on. I haven't temp checked the oem vs vmp but the flow rate is exponentially better. I run around 70% water and 30% coolant.
