it may be a tiny bit costly (for me $$ is tight) but you made it look worth every penny!! I plan to make your Mima's candy recipe. As I watched you make the Christmas Candy I thought of all the ones I love who would love to bite into something this beautiful and delicious!! Thankyou for memorializing your Mima this way. My Mima, (that's how we spelled her name) lost her daughter at a young age. It devastated my Mima, she was too sad to be able to make Christmas candy recipes. She did cook other foods but she was broken-hearted (literally) at the tragic loss of her daughter. Judy was killed in a car accident. We lost our Mima to the ravages of disease brought on by a broken heart. It's true. When someone is so devastated about tragic loss, work with them, help them as much as you can to bring them out of their depression. My Mima died 4 short years after her daughter passed away. Rest in peace Mima and Aunt Judy.

I make the bacon and brown sugar at christmas as well. Next time, try adding a good grinding a little ground black pepper on top before cooking. It really adds some zest.

I am from West Virginia right next to the Ohio state line. Grew up making those with my grandmother and my mother and occasionally my aunts. I don’t know who was giving you a rough time about using the wax, but that was a staple that every proper kitchen had back in the day. And I have it in mine down here in GA now. Lots of women that I know use it for canning jams and jellies, candy making, etc…. Keep on doing you and don’t listen to those people. The older more matured women know how to do it and it will need to be passed down somehow to the growing generations. Love your channel!

People may be horrified to find out how many commercially produced candies are made with wax as an ingredient. It's just one of those things most people don't know until they know. It's totally safe to ingest but perhaps they are picturing folks chewing on a candle or something? I don't know. 😄
