As a young, aspiring writer-director, I love your nephew's film and cannot wait to see what he does next! The film industry is a long game, and to see him make a million-dollar film distributed on Netflix is more than motivating. Not to mention, the film itself was refreshing and left me with a sense of wild justice being served.

Thanks for connecting. You are absolutely right it's a long-term game and too many give up to soon. Greg is already marketing his next script. So keep going and lots of luck and perseverance.

I have yet to see a Pileated Woodpecker. Plenty of downys and hairys but never a Pileated. I will add it to the bucket list. Thanks for the great video

What a great vantage point you had. I don't typically like too much "canned" music but the choice of a Mike Oldfeld score was different. May you forever be tuned to the Tubular Bells of the world. Loved the video.

Very nice work! It brings back memories for me of RI. I lived for a time in an old abandoned summer cottage along Hundred Acre Pond next to the URI campus in Kingston. That was back around 1970. I got frozen out in early 1971 by a -15º cold snap and not long after returned to Oregon. Thanks for prodding my memory!

Nice the hear from you David. Yes I started teaching at URI back then, now I am retired and still live near campus. You should see the campus now, twice the seize all with modern buildings. I also went to UO in Eugene for my masters.

I've never seen a green heron captured on video before or ever heard what one sounds like! I wish I could have been you to see them live! Very nicely done!! Thank you!!

Thank you for connecting. Yes you are right they are not as common as other herons and for me it was a privilege to see them so close and so long.

I love these little guys. I've been getting to know some on my property this summer, I can recognize them now by their tails. One little clever guy I see every day (the others sometimes not) and we've bonded to the point he'll come up to me outside if I'm in the backyard woods, will run up to eat from my hand, will let me pet him and just recently all on his own started jumping onto my lap when I sit on my deck or on a chair I have set up out back. Just adorable It brings me a lot of peace and joy to interact with them. It only took a few months of gentle patience to make a friend with one

Woke up to what sounded like someone beating on my house with a hammer. Inspected the sound & found one of these birds hanging from a window destroying the wood around the window to eat bumble bees. It has came back several times & has destroyed some of my porch.

We have a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers living on our property. They peck on our log house like it's a big tree and they're looking for grubs. 🙄 They're beautiful birds, though!

Excellent clarity. Robert the cat loves to watch birds and others. Your film was so realistic. Of course he tries to follow them in flight as they exit the scene, but this time was a first. Robert tried to enter the empty hole. Thank you for sharing. btw, Robert doesn't harm the birds on our balcony, but he does wait until their gathered and runnnn after them. Thank you again.

Why are you filming the young with the door open?
@geraldkrausse6311 Жыл бұрын
Thank for asking this I am happy to clear that up for you. As you can see these were fully grown chicks ready to leave the nest. In fact it was the end of the season and most boxes nearby were already empty. So for these fledglings it was just a matter of a few more hours before they would have flown out of there anyway. The door was open for about 10 minutes and the parents continued to feed them. At any other earlier stage I wouldn't have dared to do this.The footage of eggs and hatchlings was filmed with a GoPro build into the nest box before the season and then operated remotely. I have filmed birds for many years and never lost just one. I understand from your perspective it may look somewhat daring. Rest assured the birds were fine. Gerry
