I haven’t had any sugar for just over a month. My neighbour gave me a millionaire shortbread, which I ate in front of her, out of politeness. At the first bite, all I could taste was overwhelming sweetness in my mouth. There was no flavour at all, just a buzzing feeling as the sugar assaulted my taste buds! I’m so glad that happened, because I know I will never miss any sweet treats ever again!

Ive been trying to make gains for 20 years and have failed repeatedly. My one reason was constantly quitting. During those periods of quitting the effects were....eating shit, losing weight (i know, hard life isnt it) and general feeling bad about myself. Im currently 6 months in and absolutely killing. Got my first compliment the other week, trust me, its a big deal. Haha. And im the heaviest and strongest ive ever been. I feel fantastic. Get to the fucking gym

I quit eating sugar four months ago. I LOVE junk food, candy and ice cream, anything sweet. I did it for my husband in solidarity since he needed to quit. It was SO hard, but I knew it was best for me too. I honestly cannot say I’ve seen any benefit. No increase in energy, no better skin tone, no better sleep, etc. I lost a little weight, but I was already thin and didn’t really need to. I have arthritis in my lower back and was hoping that would improve. No, just as painful as ever. About six weeks in I did have ice cream and cake for my birthday and thoroughly enjoyed it. It didn’t taste too sweet and I didn’t feel sick. Just this past week I binged a little with some chocolate and once again loved it and never felt sick. Other than that I have held strictly to the no sugar regimen. I still believe sugar is very bad for you and very addictive, but I just haven’t had all the great results I hear from so many. 😢

Maybe you eat too much carbs. All the carbs are converting into sugars in our digestive system, so you still eat sugar even if you think you don't.

I have realized that what I thought was hunger was actually a stress response my body was giving me to get more sugar. It felt awful and would completely take over my focus. Now that I start my day with a savoury breakfast and am careful about the order I eat foods in to avoid severe glucose spikes and drops, the feeling of hunger is sooo different. It's not accompanied with stress (or "hanger"). Generally my stress responses have reduces which is such a welcome, unexpected outcome. I also try and limit my eating window to 8 hours, which means not eating at night which has me waking up feeling so much better.

Just like some people are more sensitive to alcohol the same goes for testosterone. Your body knows when you've had enough. I am very sensitive to testosterone, so my body doesn't produce much, but I can tell you I wouldn't want any more and I wouldn't need anymore. I was too wild in my 20s. If yours is 600 and you feel confident, a little aggressive, and very interested in women, then that is most likely the exact amount that your body needs. Anymore and you might become someone you don't like

I’m calling bullshit. There’s no way this dude didn’t have one drop of sugar for a year. Does that mean you had zero carbs also because those turn into sugar

Yep! Sugar in everything- if it's not added sugar it's carbs. Of course you were depressed-you were coming off a serious drug. But you really should have given up carbs as well as they were feeding your sugar addiction. Meat, cheese, eggs and dairy- way to go.

It's crazy how difficult it is to find keto products in a world that caters to nearly every other diet. It's much easier to make something sugar free than it is to make it vegan, but it has the side effect of stopping people's addiction to food

I did this 12 weeks ago & also cut out the snacking in the evening. I now "allow" myself 2 squares of 80% chocolate per day as my chocolate treat (I don't think I could ever get through a Snickers again !). As someone who has always had a very sweet tooth, I thought it would be difficult, but I didn't crave the sugar at all - I still don't, but I really DO miss just the variety of different tastes - like pastry & biscuits etc. I might allow myself one biscuit a day soon, but I'm quite disciplined, so it wouldn't be a slippery slope.
