'how does this get past mom' uhhh she wasn't as smart as you thought? how do you do this and not check the weather lmfao
@blakecarr3544Сағат бұрын
so knowing there's flash floods and what not why is there not fixed mount ladders or anchor points to climb to the outer rim if the case arises at intervals throughout the path? its not 100% gonna save you but at least it'll give you a chance

thanks to all the folks who have kind things to say about steve. i have seen muchless kind comments on other videos about this incident. i have lived in Green valley Lake for over 30yrs. Steve was a local as well. He was my bosses best friend. Eric (my employer and friend) has shared many stories of his and Steve's adventures. He always said what a good guy steve was. My boss is a bad ass in his own right. Nearly 70yrs old and he is still climbing trees on a daily basis. Whatever the decision making or circumstances Steve died trying to save a life. His loss was felt more in GVL than anywhere. To die trying to save the life of another it is terrible that it happened but it is a good way to go. Selfless. RIP brother

Appreciate how you told the full story--that these people were being cautious, but just caught in a freak storm. It's really easy to judge people in these scenarios, until you laid out the facts that there was little they could have done to avoid this (the storm couldn't even be seen from their vantage points! and no updates on inclement weather until the afternoon) and they did not deserve their fate. Easily could have been other hikers, us included.

So why did the experienced group, who barely got out, report the other group as still being in there. They knew they were inexperienced. Sounds rather sh***y to me.

not a climber myself but it seems that attempting to summit K2 while concealing a heart condition is rolling the dice with not only your own life, but the lives of everyone else you're climbing with and anyone else who may try to save you or lend aid. reckless disregard for the lives of others.

Why is the climbing community "shocked"? It should not come as a surprise if a climber/snowboarder/skier takes such risks along the cornice of an active volcano crater! Anyway, RIP to the decaesed mountaineer! Rest in Peace, man!

18:13 You probably don't mean to suggest that this story would be less tragic if people without loving families had died... people with horrible families have lots to deal with already, please don't imply that we are more disposable than people with kind families.

I get short of breath watching people climb down these narrow canyons! It is extremely claustrophobic! I would NOT do it. Many of these fatal accidents, unfortunately, are self-inflicted. If you know the potential risk (however remote it may be), and still want to do your adventure, then it is on you. RIP to the wonderful people who perished, they did not deserve to die. But they were aware of the risk, and they lost unfortunately.

I hiked the subway in Zions in 2006 and we were extremely aware of the weather. We went with a man who had been hiking the area for a decade. We started at 6am so we would have plenty of time to enjoy the hike and get down to the exit trail before dinner. It was a great experience. But I learned to respect those areas.

While this was a good video, the title was clickbait. The title says overcrowding caused the deaths, but you say in the video that it was just an accident and "the mountain fighting back".

So brave to go for every challenge and who paid the medical bills? Not him. And the courage to break the hearts of loved ones. So inspiring to chase your dreams at the expense of all those around you and as a total suck to society. Drug users who overdose live their dreams too. Champion them doing what they love at the cost of others? People who live this selfishly are parasites on society.

Climbing Everest means nothing... You go over there and you rely on Sherpas and Porters to haul your shit up the mountain while you're taking pictures for your social media... You then pay them coffee money even tough you're spending a small fortune for the whole expedition and treat them like shit. Every time I hear some other first world cunt died on Everest, my day gets better...
