4:49 What if instead of 11 the opponent is pressing with 10 and 9 comes into the middle to snatch the ball if its played back to 5 or the GK? Also why not to drop back 6 and move 3 and 5 to the side and and push 2 and 3 up? If the ball is played on the wing anyways 6 wont make any use in the middle and the 3-4-3 shift would give a 3 v 2 at the back and a 4 v 3 in the midfield. Would also become easy to triangulate the opponent on the flanks.

In possession there are always options due to the common extra man at the back for the defending team. Instinct and talent is also possible as you have the ball. I would like to see what defensive awareness is needed and when to shift the extra man. For example if the diamond team was my team I’d be livid if they watched you play out and our right striker watched the whole time forcing us into man for man as you play out. Defending team will need to communicate and shift responsibilities and work hard

Thanks, I am studying the benefits and risks of playing a high line, vs a low block. I personally prefer the low or mid block. I just think it's too risky to give a lot of space in your half of the pitch for the opponent to run into.

Used this weekend for the first time with our U16 team. Won 5-1. Central attacker scored a hat trick, LWB scored 1, CM scored 1. Dropped to 5-4-1 when defending.

Don’t press the CB’s as a diamond - just trigger a trap on the fullbacks - yes - you’ll leave the back side vulnerable - but the point of timing the trap is to not give them the space to ping the back side Outside of diamond triggers the trap to sideline on fullback - striker takes backwards pass to Cb away - fullback takes down line away - CB drops off to cover - 6 sits in the hole 10 covers the 6

Another possibility that I kind of like is basically the Liverpool way, but instead of the FBs going higher, they tuck inside with the CDM, the wingers drop a bit and the ACMs go in between the lines higher up. Same thing, just different players in the positions...

I kind of like a bit of asymmetrical confusion, so I would invert WB number 3 to make a double pivot with the CDM behind the first line of pressure, to split the remaining back three wide, put the number 8 to pin back the 2 and 5 with the 11 high and wide and the 9 pinning the center and ready to drop if required, but at the other side the 7 a bit lower between the lines to be a pass option for the CB number 4 a bit higher occupying the space created by the inverted WB, and finally the 10 already behind the second line aside the number 7, creating an overload at that flank and having the option to switch the play if needed, finally ending up with a possible 6 against 4/5, depending on how the defense reacts to it. I know, a bit confusing, sort of an lopsided 343, but I think that would disrupt the defense quite a lot if played well executed. This video was very enlightening. My team plays a 4-4-2 (I know...I know...but with my players, it works). When we come up against a 4-3-3 (or any system with 3 central mids) who can really play out of the back, it can be a challenge. This was extremely helpful. After seeing this, when defending goal kicks, I'm now thinking of setting up with a diamond in the midfield, having my 9 and 10 cut off the passing lanes like the 11 & 7 in this video. My center mids can split, one high like the 9 in the video and the other playing deep like the 6. I can't thank you enough for posting this.

I guess we are already got these players except a third cb Garcia and Botman (if it’s possible) are good on the ball and they have the ability of passing through the lines Araujo is the strong one We got De jong and Gavi in the midfield and they both can play the offensive and defensive rule We got Balde and Dest and both are skillful and fast players , and they will be the hidden key in my opinion We got Pedri as the fake LW that can drop to the middle and Demir as the fake RW with the same rules as Pedri And finally Fati which is a fast , technical, finisher striker
