yeah same. i just think we need someone like jorg/partey playing to fire those line breaking balls into ode or jesus. and if jesus is fit he’s our only striker that can play on the last man

Interesting take on the half space terminology. I think the reason it's spoken about in the way you don't like is because of the concept of positional play. As in, division of the field into horizontal lanes as a reference point when coaching the demands of a particular game model. For example, with my team moving to 11 a side I wanted my 3 defenders to provide correct spacing in the build up phase. The side defenders not all the way to line but not so close to the center defender they both can be easily pressed by 1 player. So having them understand the theoretical "half space" helps with that. Same for further forward in the midfield. But yes, as an overall explanation of systems I understand why you refer to half spaces in a different way.

I guess I just prefer the term “inside channel” instead of “half space” Of course all areas of the pitch require a name to allow for players to understand. Just feel this new term which seems to have stemmed from social media is misleading and potentially over used in situations where it is irrelevant

@@FootballScrutiny agree. I think it sounds like you know what your talking about as a fan so it's something people use without full understanding.

Another possibility that I kind of like is basically the Liverpool way, but instead of the FBs going higher, they tuck inside with the CDM, the wingers drop a bit and the ACMs go in between the lines higher up. Same thing, just different players in the positions...

Agreed I will only go through the middle if I have dynamic players who can counter press when they lose possession. I like to overload the wide areas. I also do not call it half space in between players is correct, oh what software are you using.

I kind of like a bit of asymmetrical confusion, so I would invert WB number 3 to make a double pivot with the CDM behind the first line of pressure, to split the remaining back three wide, put the number 8 to pin back the 2 and 5 with the 11 high and wide and the 9 pinning the center and ready to drop if required, but at the other side the 7 a bit lower between the lines to be a pass option for the CB number 4 a bit higher occupying the space created by the inverted WB, and finally the 10 already behind the second line aside the number 7, creating an overload at that flank and having the option to switch the play if needed, finally ending up with a possible 6 against 4/5, depending on how the defense reacts to it. I know, a bit confusing, sort of an lopsided 343, but I think that would disrupt the defense quite a lot if played well executed. What do you think? haha, great video as always, I like your analysis!
