Thank you for producing this video. However, even after following every step of the procedure you outlined, it did not work. Officejet Pro 8020. HP has made it impossible to use non-HP cartridges, no matter what you do. I have wasted hours trying to get this rotten printer to function, time I could’ve spent doing actual work. Now I am going to be up until midnight doing my work, and have to go in early to print it on a different printer. Thanks for nothing HP! As a result, I will never, repeat NEVER, buy another HP product of any kind. I bought my printer, and I can do whatever I would like to do with it. If HP doesn’t want to honor it’s warranty, as long as they give me a warning and give me a choice, that is fine. However, HP obviously doesn’t believe that its customers should have any choice… so I am exercising my right to walk away from HP forever. *FUCK* HP!!!!!

this didn't work for my pro 8030. hp keeps finding ways to prevent other cartridges.

Ive tried12 different fixes but it always comes back to "Remove and reinstall cartridges making sure its correctly installed". No matter what I do, it always defaults to that! Ive been working on thyis ALL NIGHT! im done.

NEVER EVER AGAIN will i purchase anything from HP! This company is slicker than snot!! Alot of the error messages are fake, in the hopes that you will just give up and go spend twice as much $$$ for THEIR product. I have an Envy 4513 and I see it worked for half of the folks who commented, but did not work for the other half. This is the 2nd cartridge ive bought and now have to return because of HP tricks, forcing us to buy only THEIR ink!! Its not right; not fair & illegal & I wish i knew how to join a class action suit against these corporate sleezebags. I believe the steps outlined in the video might work ONLY if the following set of conditions are met: 1. The HP printer model must predate the time HP started implementing their policy of blocking the use of non-HP ink cartridges through firmware. 2. For HP printers pre-dating the firmware restrictions, the printer must not undergo/shouldn't have undergone any firmware update. If the above 2 prerequisites are not met, then the printer will not function with any aftermarket/compatible ink cartridges.

This is a ridiculus video maybe hoping you buy his cartridges just to try. I work on printers quite a bit, and I will say this; If your printer has updated it's Firmware, which is the internal program that tells the machine how to act! Once is updated the only way to go back to non-OEM is to downgrade the firmware back to original. If your printer is relatively new it already came out of the box with the new firmware there is NO OLD firmware for you to downgrade to. Thats why it works only on the older models, and even then, you must have a file available with an older version of your particular firmware for your model printer. Most printer companies took those files off their website, you can still find it if you dig far enough. Then you must have the steps and knowledge to be able to downgrade it yourself. This power reset stuff he is useless once your new firmware is installed!!!! Also as soon as you sign up for their little program they automatically change your firmware. DO NOT sign up for ink delivery. They are doing this but some brands dont care at all like Canon, some older Brothers not the new models, older epson models. Thats why on Amazon uou will see older models selling for more than the new models. You can use non-oem and sometimes refillable cartridges are available.

What if I only want to use the black cartridges? Will it keep looking for colored, can I changes some settings or just give up and buy a colored cartridge. I have been only using black for at lease a year but now that it ran out when I go to replace it continues to give an E0 error.

I'm sure that this is good advice but the problem that many of us face is that we have already replaced the genuine HP cartridges with non-HP some time ago (i.e. before we saw this video) and therefore we are too late to take advantage of the instruction.

It will automatically updarte putting you back into using HP only cartridges. If you disable auto updates you can't print.

What does unplugging BOTH ends of the power cable do? Are there electronics in the power cable? No, but even if there are, then why not just unplug it from the wall & leave it plugged into the printer? I understand removing the power from the printer. Also, the 3-5 minutes wait can usually be reduced by pressing the power button while the power cable is unplugged. This will drain the capacitors quicker. I've seen some HP printers that have, or did have, an option in their built-in web page to allow non-HP cartridges. However, there was a short period of time during which the printers were made to only allow HP cartridges. There may be a firmware update that removes that lock or the firmware update may create that lock. Do a search about your printer before updating the firmware. The biggest issue I have with HP printers is their insistence on using WSD ports for the printer driver instead of allowing an IP port. Windows is notorious for losing the printer when using a WSD port.

This did not work for my hp printer. Not every HP printer has a touch screen. Also I tried doing a factory reset on my printer from the hp smart app and everything else mentioned in the video. Nothing worked. It still wouldn't print. I wasted my entire evening trying to get my printer to print with non hp ink. I will NEVER buy another hp printer again. This never used to be a problem but if hp is going to force me to buy their expensive ink or signup for their instant ink service then I will just find a printer that doesn't come with headaches. Who even thought of instant ink? I don't print anywhere near in the range any of the services for it offer. Some months I may print just 1 or 2 things and others I may print more. Sometimes I may go months without printing. It all depends. I don't want instant ink. I want AFFORABLE INK when I NEED IT not when an app thinks I need it.

HP software updated automatically my printer firmware, so if I do a restore factory defaults it will not really restore the factory defaults, right? do you think it will work anyway? I use HP cartridges always but becausee I refill them, at some time they ended to be rejected.

i tried doing what the video said to do and it didnt work. i have an hp officejet 6958. i tried multiple times but continued getting the same message that the print job is being blocked because the cartridges didnt have propper chip.

That won’t work anymore just buy the ink and squirt in into the old cartridges. You have to wait a day so the ink drops into printer. Do a test one to get it started. Works better than new ones!?

Did not work on my HP 6970 that was, unfortunately, updated and then would not accept generic cartridges. This fix didn't fix it!
