This is just what I needed! I need to make youth pillowcases and thought how nice if it was an envelope plus the French seams always make things so professional. Thank you again! Perfect!

Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have only made one quilt with the help of a friend. I wanted to do this one next by myself for my son's first baby quilt but I panicked after searching her website and couldn't find a video tutorial. Thank you! ❤

Hi 👋 that looks amazing well done 👏🏼 can I ask how could I attach a gathered frill with the edging strip? I am also making one but I can’t fathom how to finish all the edges please? Ty xx

Do you need to use a certain kind of fabric? Just wondering if any fabric is microwaveable
@linzeeb43 күн бұрын
You should use a fabric with natural fibers like cotton or linen, polyester could melt. Same for the thread, go for cotton vs. all purpose polyester.

Can you mix the down fill with the synthetic fill that already in a pillow? Or should you replace the entire filling?

I tried many years ago and got down feathers everywhere except in the pillowcase; I ended up throwing everything in the garbage. I thought I could find an easier way to transfer here in this how-to video but didn't find any new "tempting" solution, besides I like my pillows much more packed than what I see here.

I love muslin/gauze fabric quilts for both adults and babies! Always prewash the fabric first as it will shrink the first time it is washed/dried. I have made 2 gauze quilts and also rounded the corners which makes putting the binding on even easier! One other thing I always do because I have a serger is once it is squared off I run all the edges through the serger with a 4 thread stitch. This compresses the edge and makes adding binding so much easier. I use my serger with all of my quilts before binding. I've seen this striped gauze fabric at Joann's and have been thinking about using it to make myself a really soft/comfortable quilt.

So what base pattern did you use? I have trouble finding base patterns that have a front middle seam or that button/zip in front.
@ElenaMarieSewing2 ай бұрын
Most patterns don’t have the center open. I just used a normal collared pattern and added seam allowance to the center to allow room for a zipper. You can do it for pretty much any bodice pattern

A better way to move feathers is to have a spray bottle of water. Dampen the feathers so they don't fly around and move them damp. Keep it damp till you sew it up. Damp feathers smell weird so you may want to put lavender in there or something, but i just did mine with water then let it dry.

Those who gave the best advice to put the bag inside your case missed something - your hole could hve been much bigger - way bigger to start with. Also don't avoid hand sewing. Pace yourself - hand sewing will in time become a best friend to better sewing. But I hear yah, I hate to machine stitch. Sooo boring up and down straight lines.

Could you please explain what kind of muslin? A beginner sewer may not know that there are different types of muslin……some are harder or thicker not good for a baby ,then you have the type of muslin that you are using.
@ElenaMarieSewing4 ай бұрын
I think it’s technically bubble type gauze, but a thin soft muslin is great. You can also buy swaddles and use that

What a lovely quilt, your encouraging me to bust out my Liberty Tana lawn. ❤❤❤ A small tip for you, to stop your ruler slipping when you cut put your pinky finger off the ruler and on the mat or use a heavy weight at the far end of your ruler. Thank you.
