how does your helper know what puzzle you are talking about? Sometimes you just say the numbers that are there and not the name of the puzzle? Also that is so crazy Congrats!
@Zefod42_2 ай бұрын
I might have announced what puzzle I was planning to do a few seconds before (and quickly did something else inbetween)? My teammates are also very familiar with all of the puzzles and how I communicate, so if I accidentally forget to give the module name they would probably still figure out what we're doing 😅 If you have some particular timestamp(s) that seems confusing, let me know and I can look at it if you want. Thanks for the kind words!

Hey, I've been watching a lot of your KTaNE videos lately (really good stuff, its always fun to watch) and seeing them among others videos has made me want to try to do modded bombs with my cousin. We havent done any modded (we just finished section 4 of the vanilla levels) but I was just wondering what kind of things we can do to ease into modded (especially because I want to do some bigger/more challenging bombs) such as simpler modded bombs or whatnot, and how we can practice most effectively (also I would likely be experting because my cousin... he isnt the smartest guy lol) the 2 that come to mind (probably bc they're popular) is the Centurion and Praetorian, but Im sure there are lots of fun options
@Zefod42_7 ай бұрын
I'm glad youre enjoying the videos! Its a bit tough to say exactly what I would do because the scene looked very different when I started. When I first got into KTaNE there were ~200 mods, and I learned nearly all of them by just playing randomly generated bombs with people on the KTaNE discord server. Now there are over 2000 mods released, so it might be better to start out by picking a goal to work towards first. The Tweaks mod lets you use zen mode, which gives infinite time and strikes so you can play around and see what works. There are also features that let you generate bombs using only a small subset of the modules you have installed (using player profiles or the dynamic mission generator). This lets you target a few modules at a time. If the goal is to do big mission bombs I think its important to really master modules before moving on. I'll add that most missions will be a lot more difficult with just 1 expert, because modded modules tend to place a bigger burden on the expert than the vanilla modules. Thats why you'll typically see me play with 2 experts, so I have enough to do and won't have to wait around for calculations to finish. The work balance between expert and defuser differs from bomb to bomb of course. Good luck with what you decide on trying!
@DeadlyOre7 ай бұрын
@@Zefod42_ Thanks for the tips! I maybe have a second expert but I'm not sure how dedicated he would be (I honestly have no clue) One thing I did find on the steam workshop was a set of bombs called "Road to Centurion" and Idk if you've seen it before but it looks like a set of bombs that slowly introduces you to all the modded modules that are on the Centurion, do you think practicing that with my defuser and possible other expert would be a good way to get into modded and then later sort of expand what we want to do? Also I had no idea about zen mode that might be really helpful for us in the beginning edit: and how necessary is it to have the defuser know how to solve ones on their own? It looks like it saves time but is it something we should work towards or just something we pick up over time?
@Zefod42_7 ай бұрын
@@DeadlyOre You could try Road to Centurion if it sounds interesting yeah. It just depends on which mission youre most interested in working towards I think. The answer to your second question turned into a bit of an essay but hopefully it's useful to you. It all depends on the bomb in the end. There have been bombs in the past where I could have done more without the experts, but I simply had too many tasks on my plate so it wasn't worth it (I wouldve had to keep an expert waiting). While on other bombs I memorized certain pieces specifically for that mission, because there wasn't too much else on my plate. In a good team everyone is doing something all the time, so it's important the defuser knows how much time they can expect themselves and the experts to spend on each task. If the defuser is waiting for answers to come back, and then later on an expert is waiting because the defuser is busy, this is a mistake on the defuser's part for not handling the bomb correctly! I think managing and dividing tasks optimally is an often overlooked skill in good defusers. Being able to do more things alone just gives the defuser more options on how to divide tasks. Of course it has to make sense in the context of the bomb, if the experts are always 15 seconds away from being done because the modules are quick, dont waste 2 minutes of THEIR time soloing a module they can solve faster. But if the experts can be kept busy, it's important the defuser tries to keep himself busy as well! You also dont need to memorize an entire module to benefit from this, you could memorize only certain pieces where it would otherwise require a lot of back and forth. So in short I think its always worth actively thinking about (you might come up with shortcuts no one else thought to use!), but of course you need to be very familiar with the modules to make it work.

I know the video is a little bit older but maybe you still look out for comments because I have a question. I was searching for such tool/mod like you used. I try to learn that specific fight but I always have to delete the save file, create a new, run to kuro, run to the boss but you just quit the game and start again right from the beginning of the arena. May you could tell me what you use because maybe the descriptions at nexusmods doesn't clarify enough for me to understand which mod it is or I am just stupid xD please help me out, I would appreciate it. <3 (Oh and if you say it later in the video, just ignore it. I'm at the beginning of watching it rn)

Quick Addendum because I forgot to put this in the script. In phase 2, geni can cancel the last part of both versions of the long combo to shoot an arrow at you.. This happens if you don't punish and run far enough away from him. To avoid getting hit, either run far back and sprint sideways (arrow will miss), or stay closer to him as he finishes the combo (he won't shoot).
