Thanks for the video. New rider here, do you believe a single track like this is possible with a CB500 with good tires?
@BillyTyo4 күн бұрын
Probably not. The CB 500 doesn’t have the suspension for it.

I was told the steps were impossible for my vsttrom but at least the BDR has plenty of fun close by (did 2-6 twice and some roads from the Interstate were swwweeet too)

The steps would be tough on a big bike, I was very glad to be on the 450. That area has a lot of great riding.

Well, I did but Jake and I both lost our phones towards the end of the trip. We downloaded Sam’s route and Kevin’s route and just picked the one that looked the most interesting each day.

Why would you go on a cross-country trip on a bike that requires you to change the oil every 500 miles?
@BillyTyo21 күн бұрын
It really wasn’t too bad. We carried a few tools and stopped at auto parts stores or motorcycle shops and changed it in the parking lot. Only had to do it about once per week. For me, having the high reving engine was worth it.

Love that area, so much exploration and you can run like 6 passes in an 75 mile day. I like the techanical breakdown of the get off. I always tell myself "wide then inside" every switch back. As a Florida native I always need a reminder. Fun vid, thanks for sharing!

Do you think the Honda xr650l would be a good choice to take ?
@BillyTyo2 ай бұрын
Yeah, as long as you are comfortable on it. There are a lot of options so you can tailor your ride to suit. If you want you can do the whole thing on roads. Or, if you want more of a challenge there are options that will take you on trails.

What's your thoughts on the 450 after your trip? I'm considering getting one. I did the nebdr on a 23 dr650. unfortunately , she got totaled when I was hit by a car coming home. Now I have the difficult task of choosing another bike.
@BillyTyo2 ай бұрын
I really liked it and would choose it again. You have to get a vortex ecu and Yoshi pipe, but after that it’s a great bike. The only draw back is having to change the oil every 600-1000 miles, but I felt like it was worth it for the performance.

That’s an expensive way to clean! I used to get a brush and bucket of hot soapy water; afterwards just blast with a little air. I’m now using s HF parts cleaner with a submersible heater and Oriflow parts brush.

Ktm tech here. A few tips I've learned. WR Filter cleaner is much better than twin air cleaner, and will dissolve all oils which would eliminate your gasoline step. And using gasoline, though effective at dissolving oil, will break down both the foam and glue of the filter, and cuts the life of the filter in half. Try WR, it's incredible. Love your vids :)
@BillyTyo4 ай бұрын
Thanks for that tip, I have been looking for something better than twin air. What brand of filter oil do you use? Glad you enjoyed the videos (I was wondering if anyone was watching them or not)
@kakashi15784 ай бұрын
@@BillyTyo Belray foam filter oil is our favorite, it's messy but it's never failed us lol. I completely submerge the whole filter for full coverage and then squeeze out as much as possible, then let it sit in open air for a day.
