I love your boat! So cosey!!! I also enjoyed your trip. I think you are amazing for 70 and a real inspiration. I would love to go on a road trip (staying in an Airbnb!) but a little nervous of travelling on my own. It is on my bucket list! I’m so pleased I found your channel. How do we go about finding a narrowboat to buy?

@@annalytic hi there ! Sounds exciting!! 😊 Best place is a website called apolloduck.co.uk . Here you will find lots of different types of narrowboats with different stern decks and different fit outs, engines, lengths and widths! . There are some on FB marketplace- but be wary, there are a few scams at the moment . In my area which is Gloucestershire, there are some for sale on Facebook marketplace now, and as I recognise the boats and know of the previous owners I know whether they’re worth it or not. But of course you can buy a boat in any part of the country. And then drive it to wherever you want to be predominantly, or use the location to be the beginning of your adventures if you’re going to be a continuous cruiser ! Also many marinas have a brokerage, you will, however, pay a premium for the brokerage price. The other way to do it is, if you can find a marina that doesn’t have a brokerage, a lot of people sell them privately. You could just ask the question at the marina office. Are there any boats for sale here? That’s how I found mine and I have had her 10years and really happy with my boat and my lifestyle. Let me know if you find one, would love to know your progress! The bumps are called Heberden’s Nodes. Heberden's nodes are small bony growths that appear on the joint closest to the tip of your finger. Along with Bouchard's nodes, Heberden's nodes are a symptom of osteoarthritis of the hands. They can cause pain and limited motion in your hands. I’ve got them on most of my fingers. What a great idea to get tattoos

That’s very kind of you to say, I’m glad you’re enjoying my little Natterings! 😂 In my Vlog called ‘Camping Tales’ which I did about 2months ago, at the end is a full tour of my boat. You can watch the whole Vlog or push along to 26mins and it starts there. The whole Vlog duration is just over 28mins. My mooring is a permanent one, and it’s actually on the canal not in a marina. I have been up country through some of the canal system and on a couple of our rivers but I now tend to stay around the area of my mooring. As I have it all here on this canal. Nature at its best!, and I’m a bit lazy! 😂. Hope you have a lovely day🌸

Loving the amazing amount of progress you’ve made in such a short space of time - what a busy 🐝 you’ve been! As a suggestion, I would take those metal plates from the rear windows and use them to make cardboard templates which you could then slot in for times when total privacy / security is needed. A material roof would give a nice soft finish and help with air movement and the inevitable condensation. As long as it’s easily removable to evict the inevitable bugs, critters and flying things that are bound to find their way to the wrong side.

Wow, Peri! Big congratulations on the van conversion and your inauguration trip. Even though you have more 'fixin' to do, the country cottage vibe is just lovely. I did giggle at your waving your toast around. I think it indicates how at home you feel on Tilly Teacup! Good idea to cover those windows when you are out or at night. Think getting a bigger mattress so that it fits the bed is a good idea! Looking forward to the next vlog already!

Well done on your maiden voyage. The van looks amazing. Have you tried changing the fuse on the 2nd cigarette lighter? I dont know much about the battery packs but there is a couple called #campoutwest and they use The Jackery. You could put wooden slats on the ceiling to cover insulation and give you hanging space for things like nets for storage and fairy lights etc. Looks like you had a fab weekend ❤️❤️

Just thought of something that may be useful to you - I put stick on pretty window film on the bottom of the downstairs windows in my home, which let the light in, but stopped folks walking past being able to look right in on me - was thinking it would be useful for your on the windows at the back of your van. It looks so comfortable and homely in the back of your van, with your proper bed, and love what you have done to make it your own comfortable and practical space. xxx

I am sure that you have heard this before, but you remind me so much of Petula Clark to look at?! You just came up on my You Tube lists, so I have subscribed to you and given the thumbs up. I love narrow boats, and have never been on one, but always fancied doing so, and even living on one as you do. I suffer sever anxiety now, and only go out of my rural home to walk my rescue greyhound Madge, and to take the re cycle and rubbish to the end of our lane. I sold my car, because I was unable to drive more than 10 mins without having to stop to be sick, and I so miss driving. I get everything delivered to me. I have not been out and about (part from having to be taken to the dentist locally to have a tooth taken out) since January 2020. I wish I could find someone like yourself on You Tube that lived near me in West Devon, as it would be lovely to have someone come to my home, just to have a bit of human company. I do love living on my own though, and doing my own thing, and I love my home. Thank you for this video, and I have subscribed to you, and given you the thumbs up. But when I was younger , a few people did remark on it. I’d forgotten all about that ! 😂Also when I was a kid, I used to have her single ‘Downtown’! 😂 Sorry to hear about you anxiety, and that it’s stopping you from doing all the lovely things you want/like to do. Have you tried a local Facebook group in your area. I joined a women’s car camping group, before I bought my Van, and this weekend I’m meeting up with six other women who camp in cars/vans who I’ve never met before, so that worked really well and a group like that might work for you! Not to go camping but to pop in and see you, I hope you continue to enjoy my Vlogs and hopefully they make you smile. 😊

Hiya, i thought I was going mad. I watched your video this morning a nd thought Ill message you once I got to work and I couldnt find it anywhere. I have been on my first micro camper night. I have been dreaming about it for years now. Finally got my van….and I Just feel deflated today. I don’t know why. I didn’t sleep well. Had weird dreams… My partner and me had big dreams about travelling in a camper, watching all the KZbin videos etc. then he got diagnosed with bowl cancer and passed away a year later. It’s been one and a half years since he passed and I just wanted to make our dream come true in a much smaller version but still. And now I think am I doing the right thing??? I know I have to give it a few more goes and you are definitely an inspiration to me. So I will try again next weekend 🤞☺️

But I think if you really want to be a ‘micro camper’ / camper/vanlifer, I think you should do this for you……. Your partner can be by your side, in your thoughts as you go on your adventures! Grab it all with both hands. Surely their passing shows you how short and fragile life can be! Be happy and enjoy everything!! Happy Camping! 🌸

Hi Peri, I had issues using images in academic work in the past. Apologies if you already know this but it's a useful tip to search for images on Google and then narrow that down to 'Creative Commons License'. These images aren't all copyright free but mostly they are (and free to use). Worth checking out Creative Commons images next time you need a jolly image or three!!

@@bobbiejo8747 that’s made me LOL, thank you, much appreciated! And yes July’s savings have been put back! 🤩 If you’re considering car camping, then go for it. My first trip as you know was a biggie! What is it they say “Go big or go home” ! 😂 it may not be for everybody but until you try you won’t know. You can just start with the basic equipment, but make sure that your bed, whatever you use is comfortable and warm, the rest will follow maybe for your first few trips out onto campsites, to feel a little bit safer, before you wild camp. If you do start ‘Car Camping’ you’ll have to let me know how you get on. 🌸

Oh, well done. I'd leave those small side panels too, they look like a real pain to get off. I love car camping and like you, my dream is to get a little van. But I'm in no rush really. You're going to have so much fun. Enjoy 💕🦋 xx
