Thanks for your review 🙏. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by this little family park, and I really enjoyed it. The ambience during Halloween with the fog when we were there was eerily pleasant and added to the experience. My son could buy a wheel from wild train and a tribute shirt, they made a special event for its closure. I have a special affection for this park and this ride. Can't wait to see and ride Helios ❤❤❤❤❤

Easily the most overrated coaster in the UK. Alton Towers is my local park and if it wasnt for the Single Rider queue, i woulsnt go on it any more than once a year.
@monkeygaming2841Сағат бұрын
8:15 it's always tradition on this part of the ride that you have to wave at the people on the rapids and vice versa

I ride the Volare in Vienna from time to time and I like it (and so does my sibling). Flying down head first and the rolls feel kinda funny and weird but in a good way. As you said it's really about the correct position and body tension. I think the operators would do themselves a favor if they explained that to new riders. Maybe put up a sign or something. That would probably leave fewer riders bruised and put-off for life. 😅

This park may have a height limit, but not a noise limit. I've never heard a B&M dive or flying coaster sound that loud before. I even thought that Nemesis Reborn would have sand filled supports to make it quieter.
@monkeygaming2841Сағат бұрын
It's only been an issue at the back of the park, they had to remove some rides there in the early 90s due to noise complaints

I grow up in Fayetteville I remember when it was called Dixieland I’m still calling it Dixieland because that was original name 🎢🎠🎡

Maybe they should retheme it to another NFL team in Pennsylvania then it will run better

Gorgeous ride, ppl are saying boring, grow up, it's made to relax and chill through the nice scenery, with a few fun little moments, it's not meant to be a big thrill ride.

This entire ride is a vibe. When I marathoned this (10 laps in 1.5hour) it wad just so much fun.

How can you say it’s a bad drop when the entire ride is the drop lol
@JFrombaugh15 сағат бұрын
Despite the queue video that does its best to scare the crap out of you, oddly enough I would say Rita is the "scarier" ride. Both in terms of suspense and because the launch gives you a MUCH stronger "stomach feeling".

The music really makes this ride sound like a conspiracy or a dangerous but inevitable failure.

The quad heartline rolls seem a bit much, especially since they added an extra one at the end. Could have just had a couple airtime hills.

I disagree. It’s a sneak attack. You meander down unaware of how fast you’re going then it goes ballistic. I think it’s a brilliantly designed drop. Totally unique

If you think it had the sinister theme before it was even built the files and design before were very uncanny creepy looking which it was originally supposed to be a mental hospital which is dark but cool😅

ATTANTION!! Operating in Manual mode has nothing to do with block section safety!!!!!! A coaster must always obey the block sections!! No matter what mode it is in. Overriding block section safety is a specific task with a extra key and or a login in the rides system by mechanics. Operating in manual mode is completely safe for the ride itself. In manual mode you tell the coaster with train goes to the next block of maintenance bay instate of the ride letting the trains go by itself after the dispatch from the station. Only thing that can be ignored is safety bar sensors and or gates sensors. This is so if a defect is noted the train can always leave and the ride can empty its rides without a evacuation. Operating in manual mode is often not permitted WITH guest by operators, do to trains always braking and stopping by brake sections, the operator needing to focus on the station, needing to manual sent every train to it next section and for most parks the lack of software checking the safety bars as a second control for big people. But there are so many coasters that don't have sensors on there safety bars and they are still made, looking at the wooden coasters and family/kid coasters. PLEASE STOP SPREDDING MIS INFORMATION ABOUT MANUAL OPERATIONS OF COASTER AND RIDES! (coming from a ride operator and mechanic that also did testing with engineers and programmers)

I’d say they didn’t add a beyond vertical drop because you literally have to walk at least 100 feet to get to your “vertical” drop

I always suspected the lack of a beyond-vertical drop was a deliberate ploy to avoid undermining Oblivion's selling point. It might be hard to get people excited about a vertical drop if there's a beyond-vertical one right next to it. For what it's worth, The Smiler is quite possibly the most disappointing coaster I've ever ridden. Only inversion 1 and 13 offer anything remotely thrilling, the cars are uncomfortable, the tracking poor, and overall it always feels like I've ridden 2 mediocre coasters one after the other, rather than one really good one.
@destinedpotato1577Күн бұрын
The Smiler is one of my favourite rides at Alton Towers, just eclispsed by a end of day back row Wickerman ride that felt like I had standing airtime. Its crazy to me that Gerstlauer and John Wardley managed to create this monster without it ever feeling repetiative (looking at you Colossus and other Intamine 10 inversion coasters). My Partner also loves this ride and might have freaked out some other guests from their giggling during the ride. As much as people would like lapbars on The Smiler, I'm less convinced. I feel like having OTSRs gives a placibo for safety, idk why. But then again the UK is very slow to adopt the Overhead lapbars and they've only started to appear since Icon at Blackpool iirc. Maybe if Alton Towers decideds to get Smiler a facelift, because that track needs some paint love, they could invest in some new trains.

Loved your reviews. Good try to pronounce the difficult danish names. Although your attempt at rutschebanen was quite amusing. It sounded much more like you said "Rutschebananen" instead of rutschebanen which would mean "Roller Banana":P

Easily top three coaster in the U. K. I never rode Hyperia because I wasn't there since 2019, but then it was a tie between Smiler and Icon. Out of Context Icon is better, but Icon is done better with Helix in Sweden (which I admit I've never been to) but there is nothing like Smiler better than Smiler, so I think Smiler gets the edge. It was def. my favourite in the park.

Your summary of the accident has a little mistake. Maintenance was already present as there was a problem with one train. The ride ops wanted to use that down time to add an additional train. So when starting back up maintenance wasn't called in as they were already around. But due to a lack of communication they just didn't know of the additional train. And unfortunately nobody bothered to check the block section, that the system said was occupied, visually. It was just dismissed as an error as all trains maintenance knew of were where they were supposed to be.
