NEVER just tear the battery off like that, unless you absolutely ARE replacing the headphone jack, because you risk tearing the ribbon cable that connects to the hold switch. Your best bet for removing the battery without risking the hold switch is to pry it up from bottom right to bottom left, then place your finger on top of the exposed portion of the ribbon cable, and slowly pull the ribbon cable and the battery apart at that point on the bottom left of the battery. Enjoy everybody!

Taking the face side of the device off "certainly wasn't easy to do" because he did it wrong, duh... EVERYBODY: The correct way to remove the faceplate is to start on the upper left, then move downward 1 inch at a time. Then do the bottom, undoing one anchor hook on each side of the 30 pin power/ data port. Next do the top. There's only 1 anchor hook on the top side, it's one inch from the left (or half inch right of the earphone jack). Don't worry about the right side at all, after doing the left, top and bottom sides, the faceplate will slide right off. This way IS easy, SURPRISINGLY easy... Enjoy!
