I am moving to Germany come the New Year and want to attend Drachenfest, so learning about the camps is helpful. We have Drachenfest US in the same location as Pennsic, (I have attended Pennsic, but not Drachenfest). Drachenfest US only has the five camps (Blue, Green, Red, Shadow & Silver), so it is a little bit different.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm just getting into LARPs and Drachenfest sounds wonderful. Hearing first-hand accounts really helps since, as you rightfully pointed out, there's almost no social media content that's easy for the average person to find. I understand not wanting to harm immersion by allowing everyone to carry cameras, but at the very least, they need to invite more KZbin influencers to participate and film so more people can be introduced to the game. I also hear you about people not taking hits, or knowing how to play up the battle mechanics. The US is very "me"-centric, and it shows in our fighting style. Hopefully, game runners can place more emphasis on the importance of the "acting" part of LARP, rather than the "I win" attitude people want.

Regarding the "in English bitte": I'm not sure if it's a thing all around German Drachenfest or only in the golden camp, but we have a tradition that when people are shouting battlecries, someone who isn't native shouts back "What are they shouting?" and everybody answers "Something in German!" 🤣

Im at my first Drachenfest (germany) next week. I dont have social media, communication has been a nightmare for me! The forums are dead, so I've relied solely on others for speaking for me through Facebook to get any Information.

On the last day Metwabe auctions off the open bottles for copper, that's always great, so save up your money and don't get robbed

Sad that you won't come to Germany this year, but great that you will try out new stuff. Wow, Australia, I am looking forward to that coverage.

For explanation: this was Copper fighting Chaos and Chaos won. Afterwards Choas zombified the Copper fighters and led them to the White Camp, to fight on their behalf. Wonderful poetic injustice

I'm keen to go to the aus one since I live here, but I've never done larp before so kind of on the fence still. Would love to see anything more on it if you end up going. I believe it was on last year but I can't find a second of footage for it so I would love a vid about it.

Glad you're doing well mate :) Keep up the LARP life! So what do YOU like most to talk about when it comes to LARP? Cause my go to topic is combat (yes, mad for swords and some fighting to be done) and the storytelling aspect of it. Love me a good story.

Now I'm turning 28 and I feel my life has been wasted and is coming up to a point of no return and that I've permanently messed up everything. I mean I own a home but I just live in my basement and let my mother sister and nephew have rein of the rest. I didn't even want to own a home yet. Didn't have a choice tho and now I feel like the weight of the world is on my shoulders cause with out me and my paychecks my mother and sister won't have a home and my paychecks are only a couple over minimum wage. Which isn't bad but now I have so much with bills, more then they do and I'm still expected to have all this money and to afford all this crap when I can't. Hell I even broke my foot last year and it didn't even hurt as much as what I thought a broken bone might, but I was panicking about not being able to work and worrying about bills and needing to have people do things for me and making me feel lazy cause my mom even said if she broke hers she'd still be walking around and doing this doing that ect. Anyways I'm turning 28 and I've wasted my life and I'm stuck with to much weight on my shoulders and to much fear in my heart or mind. All my life has been ever since I could, has been work sleep work sleep work sleep. Had to drop out of high-school whenever my job went to 12 hours and my mother was busy taking care of my older sister and her addiction issues and her eating us out of rhe house and being in and out of prison and jail. And tho my sister is better ever since she found out she was pregnant and had my nephew 5 years ago I even got out before that and thought I was gonna be better but then I got sucked back in and now it all falls on me. While they can take entire weeks off of work and only work a few days a week but still complain about how I'm not doing much. I'm trying my best, I am truly. But it's so hard and I've already got my plate stacked with mental health issues that I can't even get taken care of cause then they'll just get angry. Worst of all I can't even drive cause need to focus on so many things at once and it becime so overwhelming that I pass out basically. My body shuts my vision and hearing off and the next thing I know is my mother is pulling the steering wheel off to the right side of the road and yelling. To sum it up, I'm a soon to be 28 year old living in my own basement with no friends, loads of trauma and health issues mental and physical, no diploma or ged and I'm chained (metaphorically) down and don't know what to do and haven't done crap with my life. Just wish there was a switch I could flip to have a better mindset or understanding. Stupid brain chemicals and imbalances
