Before an mot certificate can be issued you should be made to produce a current certificate of motor insurance.its safety. And should be part of the mot.

My test is tomorrow and I haven't even learned these yet so I'm going to just spend the rest of the day watching the two videos till I'm sick to death of watching them. hopefully they will ask me easy ones like how to press the horn and how I know the breaks work. Since you can't drink and drive I'm going to down two red bull before the test because when I get nervous I use a lot of energy up so I need the boost for that 30 minutes or so!! grrr Just want this to be over. I also read that eating 2 bananas helps too...I have been learning to drive for months and have become pretty good at it. I am just a nervous wreck when people observe me do things it's the same when my boss goes around observing. I know I'm not doing anything wrong but there is the feeling that I am. does that make sense? Sorry for rambling... so nervous. 1st test ever.

Absolute classic of why a driver pulls out on you, with or without the low sun. He isn't sat there thinking "here he comes... here he comes; I've got him" He simply doesn't see you. In this scenario, where you see someone waiting at a junction, about to pull out, you should break your line up with a little bit of counter steering, so your headlight is moving from side to side within your lane. Hopefully the drive will now be thinking what is this idiot doing. Bingo! if he's thinking that, he's seen you. Hope this prevents someone getting hurt.

The biker should gently zigzag order to prevent exactly this phenomenon. It is taught on *some* advanced riding courses, but I've never seen such a good demonstration of this phenomenon

Good video, however, as the video is designed to highlight how vulnerable bikes are, it would have been more effective to had had the car indicating to turn left down the side road....? How many would have pulled out in front of the bike?

Not a big fan of these cgi clips, I didn't spot it but I was only using my phone screen, in real life that picture would be much much bigger and possibly I'd be wearing sunglasses however if you aren't this does prove useful.

All this think bike nonsense all the time! What about think car or speed limit? The main reason why so many bikers have bad habits and often speed is that they are allowed to drive around unsupervised while still a learner. Think Car! Think Speed Limit!
@tonys6601
@tonys6601 5 жыл бұрын
We should all "think 'others' " The reason motorcycles are highlighted is because they are smaller (harder to see) and more vulnerable. Not all motorcyclists have bad habits or speed, one think to bear in mind is they can accelerate much faster than other road users, and still stay within the speed limits, that in itself can make it appear to be speeding.

I saw one with an articulated Larry stationary and from the cab you could see nothing , when the camera exited the truck there were about 20 cyclists around the vehicle. It was to educate the truck driver but I think it should be shown widely to make cyclists aware of the danger they can place themselves in.

I know what you mean, they police do show the cyclists, I've seen them on the Embankment, London with a truck and they stop cyclist on their way in to work, get them to jump in the cab and have a 'driver's view'. Not done enough though.

what i love about this video is that it also shows the importance of putting on lights during sunrise and sunset when vehicles without lights can be completely lost in the glare of the sun.

If rider had some Hi-viz on their body/helmet then perhaps you would have a better chance of seeing them.

got to admit as both a rider and driver i didnt see it on here. having said that, in real life you do not see the small area portrayed on my laptop but a life size image and feel thats were some of the simulated tests fall down. just my thoughts :) i have however shared it to facebook..

Agreed! The minimised image definitely makes a difference. The fact you do not have to move your head from left to right in this video and vice versa could also make a difference. To add to your point - unfortunately, people are becoming less and less attentive on the road and mostly do not expect the unexpcted. In this video as the viewer you know you are supposed to be looking out for something and thus you're more likely to be focused and see the motorbike, whereas on a long, tiring drive home from work using the same route you've driven for years without incident, you may be less likely to take that time to check twice or thrice before pulling out reducing their chances of seeing the motorbike.
