Thanks for uploading this. Herb came to our elementary school in 1966 or 67 and demonstrated the prototype to us in the auditorium. He explained piezoelectricity in terms we could understand, and showed how to tune it with a tuning fork. I think he was amplifying the sound with a tube amp, because I think I remember seeing the tubes glowing. It was very memorable and inspiring.

Fantastic video! I found the first part, the documentary, very interesting, but when the song started, I was totally blown away. What a marvel to see how Mr. Deutsch has kept his wits about him. Thanks for the upload, Mr. Michael Sterling.

Awesome video. Thnx a lot. Also, I'm a proud owner of number 79 R.A.Moog Minimoog Model D :-) However, mine does not have the Glide and Decay plugs or switches but it has only red push-buttons for it. Pitch and mod wheels are the same.

I would have liked to hear Herb play back in his heyday, you can tell he probably has some arthritus or other neurolgical issues going on in his hands now, but I bet he ripped it up back in the day. If anyone has any information on Herb's background as a player or any links to him playing that would be cool to hear.

I've met Herb Deutsch eight times between June 2000 and April 2006. I highly value his friendship, despite having missed the opportunity to be one of his students. I've also had the pleasure of meeting/jamming with Neil Alexander.

Neil definitely knows how to present equipment to the best of its potential. It was wicked when he decided to get his own Minimoog Voyager.

During my one semester stint at Hofstra U. in 1989 (eventually graduating from NYU - Hofstra sucked), getting a more advanced electronic music education from this fine gentleman was worth the dough essentially wasted. He was a true innovator - and at that time, the classroom had a heap of classic Moog synths and the ephemeral patch cables. More people should know Herb's name. Hope he's still going strong.

I took his electronic music class at Hofstra in 2000 and he brought his minimoog in one day and played this for us...he said it was the demo he performed to sell them. I think it's the same song. A real treat.
