Area 51 is not part of Edwards Air Force Base. Edwards is located in the California desert just north of Los Angeles, California and noted for the advanced development of aircraft but due to its location can be surveilled by practically any passersby. Area 51 is located at least a couple hundred miles east of Edwards adjoining Las Vegas, Nevada and is not accessible or viewable by the general public.

What's crazy about this thing in person, is it looks totally fake. It looks like a prop from a highschool theatre production. Crazy to know it actually flew and did testing.

A book on Tacit Blue tells the story of an engineer on the secret program who was going to a company party with his wife and saw she had a “white whale” pendant on her necklace - said he could not tell her why, but she had to get rid of it.

I would disagree that it's the world's safest I would say the vision jet is safer because it has a feature where you can just push a button and the plane calls the closest control tower and flies the plane there and lands on its own. That's something that should be standard on any million-dollar plus aircraft you're non-pilot passengers would love it if there's ever an emergency where the pilot is unable to fly the plane

It is grossly under powered. But i would say most of the A340 variants are all the same in that regard. Unless they've been retrofitted with the newer bigger engines which should have been on them in the first place. Great planes though especially for long distance travel.

Brings back fond memories of HMS Hermes which had one or two AEW Gannets and a mail delivery unit also (1967 to 1969).

It failed for one reason, that this video completely ignores to make Boeing's entrant look better. It could not take off, fly supersonic, and land vertically. It could do one, or the other, depending on the set up, but not both. That's what killed it.

Dated, old information. The Thielert engine is replaced by the Austro 300, a 4 cylinder modification a a Benz diesel from a C series. Find it on the DA-40NG, DA-42NG (twin) and some Continental diesels on the larger DA-50 and 62 models (also FADEC). Also neglected to mention that these diesels are turbocharged, good for high altitudes, and liquid cooled so you can descend quickly without cold shock cracking the engine block or turbo.

If the Cirrus is older. every ten years the parachute needs repacking. JR Aviation's SR-20 has been grounded most of the year because the parachute repack is out of stock, hard to get and they are looking at $28k for the 'chute system alone. Cirrus is also Chinese owned, how much of that factors into good customer service? Either go for your favorite tin box or a Diamond. Why did the Cirrus have a parachute in the first place? Something about being hard to recover from a spin I believe. The 'chute got it certified. I would avoid any plane depending on a parachute. i prefer the Diamond design any day.

I am a private pilot and have flown Cessna seaplanes. Entrepreneurs who venture into aircraft manufacturing, claiming to make a vehicle available to everyone, comparing it to a Jet Ski, snowmobile, boat, etc., are completely ignorant dreamers when it comes to what aviation really is. And those who put deposits on these are just as ignorant. They have no idea about aviation regulations, the discipline and complexity of aeronautics, weather constraints, and reality. And currently, we are facing the same problem with 'dreamers' and eVTOLs!
