Hey hello, great service, i do love the movement holder, where did you buy it from?? Do you have a link for it??Thank you.❤😂🎉

The marks on the inside of the case are just simply marks put on by the watch repairman. They are usually either the date it was done or their initials

А в чем смысл реставрации, если был только репасаж механизма и стекло отполировано?

Im glad you didn't try to clean the face. I would prefer for it to look the age it is. Just as long as it works with precision. Great video, I subbed.

Just thinking I have the same set of oils as yours, excellent choice in oils, except for D5 I got HP1300 which is completely synthetic.

Thank you very much. Yes the shop was out of HP1300 but I will get some soon.

It's neat that Japanese watches use Kanji to display the weekday. In the early part of this video 水 is visible, which is the symbol for water (mizu) but read as sui (水曜日 / suiyoubi).

I love the simple way you do this restorations, concentrated to the essential without destroying the signs of time that actually tell the story of this timepieces. For me it's the most important aspect of vintage items like watches. Congrats and keep it that way!

Nice job overall, so I subscribed.You have a steady hand so that's good, but a bit heavy handed with the grease. There is no need for oil between the baseplate and a lever that slides over it (example at 29:00) as the lever is polished. Grease goes on the points where levers push against something. For the poster that wondered about the mainspring, there is no correct way that a spring must wind, it's not a screw thread. Most Swiss brands always did it the same way so that is how spring manufacturers mark their products. Some Japanese movements do it opposite. As you noticed there generally is only one way it can go in anyway.

Thank you very much for watching and the sage words. It's very tempting to grease everything in sight but I know I must restrain myself a bit.

Sorry got a question ! The new mainspring is not suppose to place with the color up !? It’s supposed that the mainspring is winding to be counterclockwise !
@forgottenwatches3 жыл бұрын
Good question and this also confused me during the rebuild. You can see in the disassembly that this is the way it came out. It's also the only way that the arbor, spring and barrel would fit back together. Maybe it's because it's an automatic? Well the watch is running fine and keeping good time so who knows.

@@forgottenwatches thank you for this information, I’ m watch hobbyists so I’m most of the time by the book, so I see that there is some exceptions !! Thank you !!

You don't want to be breathing in that Renata in, nasty stuff! don't know if you have one but a dedicated watch cleaning machine is the way to go, total game changer for me! Nice job though!!!
@forgottenwatches3 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much. Yes a proper cleaning machine is on the (long)wish list of tools.

I know that in general, restoring the dial of a vintage watch is frowned on by many watch repairers as, perhaps, destroying its integrity and heritage etc. On the other hand it could be seen as simply another step, which doesn't necessarily negate or damage the history of the timepiece, but simply presents the next stage by removing the debris of the past and bringing back to life that, which, originally tempted and impressed its first owner and began the life of the watch. The watch is what it is and restoring the dial reveals a past beauty to the present and a new future.

No restoration to the case? Boo

Not everyone wants to restore old cases to new. There is something to be said for leaving things the way they have aged, aside from cleaning of course

I'd be VERY careful with these RADIUM painted watches as the compound is pretty friable & can become airborne, then inhaled, as well as tiny particles scattering everywhere. RADIUM 226 is highly radioactive, that's WHY I recommend a basic geiger counter to all those that service/restore vintage watches & clocks etc.
@hockeyrd992 жыл бұрын
There doesn't appear to be ANY radium whatsoever on this watch.
