I love the simple way you do this restorations, concentrated to the essential without destroying the signs of time that actually tell the story of this timepieces. For me it's the most important aspect of vintage items like watches. Congrats and keep it that way!

I know that in general, restoring the dial of a vintage watch is frowned on by many watch repairers as, perhaps, destroying its integrity and heritage etc. On the other hand it could be seen as simply another step, which doesn't necessarily negate or damage the history of the timepiece, but simply presents the next stage by removing the debris of the past and bringing back to life that, which, originally tempted and impressed its first owner and began the life of the watch. The watch is what it is and restoring the dial reveals a past beauty to the present and a new future.

You don't want to be breathing in that Renata in, nasty stuff! don't know if you have one but a dedicated watch cleaning machine is the way to go, total game changer for me! Nice job though!!!

Thank you very much. Yes a proper cleaning machine is on the (long)wish list of tools.

The marks on the inside of the case are just simply marks put on by the watch repairman. They are usually either the date it was done or their initials

А в чем смысл реставрации, если был только репасаж механизма и стекло отполировано?

I'd be VERY careful with these RADIUM painted watches as the compound is pretty friable & can become airborne, then inhaled, as well as tiny particles scattering everywhere. RADIUM 226 is highly radioactive, that's WHY I recommend a basic geiger counter to all those that service/restore vintage watches & clocks etc.
@hockeyrd992 жыл бұрын
There doesn't appear to be ANY radium whatsoever on this watch.

The hammer scientifically used as my old mentor would say.

No restoration to the case? Boo

Not everyone wants to restore old cases to new. There is something to be said for leaving things the way they have aged, aside from cleaning of course
