I've heard that because of descending nature of Andalusian cadence the leading note for tonic or E (in this case) is F natural and assuming d sharp as leading note is a classical point of view which doesn't match Flamenco.
@adamdelmonteguitarist7 күн бұрын
There is a difference in a descending harmonic progression and an actual scale, which is always measured going from the low note in an upward direction. Also D # happens to be the dominant 7th of the chord of F which leads to E in 2 strong ways.

Well done, Adam! A radio program brought me to search for this beautiful piece of music. Audience should listen to it for at least twice, one with eyes closed and another time with eyes wide open. Both allow audience to immerse into South Spain vibe. Thanks again. ❤😊

Hello...Im just curious why you are using a 2 finger (i a )rasqueado instead of ( i m ) . Is this the traditional way? Im only about six months into flamenco guitar, I practice a couple of hours a day and I love this Palo. Thank you for creating the lesson..Im probably gonna try your fandangos lesson :-).
@adamdelmonteguitarist8 күн бұрын
The i and a fingers are more separate and more equal in length, that’s why I like using them instead of i and m. But it’s a personal choice. There are other player who do it also. Cheers

You mention that the harmony of the flamenco scale will be discussed next video, but I cant find it in your channel.

Fantastic. One could be fooled into thinking Albeniz wrote his music with you in mind. Your rendition of Sevilla reminds me of Alicia de Larocha’s live performance at Royal Albert Hall. The same subdued urgency.

Just a question, does your book, Picado Scalathon actually teach flamenco scales too, or just technique?

All the technical exercises are based on the flamenco scale and the big scale. 🪬🎸

I've seen people soloing over Am G F7 E7 and sometimes they add a C# or an F#, are those also inside the scale, or do they have a totally different approach. For example, I've seen Paco de Lucia constantly playing G# over an Em chord, which sounds cool.
@adamdelmonteguitaristАй бұрын
C# and F# don’t belong in the scale but depending on what kind of modulation or quick harmonic deviation you want to create that makes musical sense, it can be made to work.

Studied and completed a minor in Classical Guitar back in the 1970s. Now, I'm approaching age 70, and getting arthritis in my hands. Should I think about acquiring a narrower nut widths instrument ie Cordoba Fusion single Cutaway body guitar?

Can someone please explain how we get a G major chord instead of G# diminished? The available notes are E F G# A B C D. Thus G# B D = G# diminished not G major. This is based on the E Phrygian Dominant or A Harmonic Minor. (What ever you decide to call it, it's the same notes for both scales)

Just beautiful.

I agree, this is a wonderfully helpful video which should be shown to every beginner...in my case 20 years later, but now I understand all those cryptic comments about why E-Phrygian is not the actual scale, just the basis... I never saw it fully explained before :)

what does Homebase mean?
@adamdelmonteguitarist4 ай бұрын
It means the Tonic or the main first base of the tonality in which you are playing. If you’re playing a tune in the key of C major, that’s the tonic chord and it sounds and feels like “Home Base”.
