Dear Adam, I’m following few of your lessons on your website Lernavel and I have difficulty with left hand for tremolo. When I change cords in left hand the sound is not clean in those strings wich has to be changed for next cord. I can’t find un answer to this difficulty in your tremolo course on Lernavel. Could you advise something please?

One way to solve that would be to move your left hand before the right in position so that you firt feel and cement the chord in the left hand solidly before you play the tremolo in the right. If you try to do it simultaneously your left hand will always feel behind, so you have to put it down first and little by little you;ll coordinate things better. Start nice and slow! Good luck

Great Lesson !! I subscribed. Been playing guitar with a pick/plectrum for years, and now attempting to learn Flamenco. Been working on Phrygian Scales with only index & middle fingers daily. Not easy with arthritis 😁

La Soleà es uno de los palos mas jondos del flamenco. Y Adam, a parte de ser un excelente instructor (cosa que no es nada facil en la ensenanza de la guitarra flamenca...), es tambien un musico fenomenal. Esta Soleà lo demuestra sin ninguna duda. Y el hecho que estè dedicada a Pepe Habichuela, es simplemente magico. Puedo oir Granada y toda la autenticidad de los Habichuelas, en cada nota que toca. Congratulaciones por haber sabido sacarle tanta emocion al instrumento. Gracias Adam !

Great explanation Adam. Very comprehensive and concise. I've tended to think of 2 versions of phrygian - natural - and then the harmonic minor - or Hijaz- G# version (to be played when E7b9 is implied) - but it's nice to think of both G and G# together - as they're often both used over that E. I would love to know how you use G# outside of the context of that E7b9 chord. Also the D# had always felt to me like the hijaz of B, which I suppose is the same as the leading tone of its relative minor. Or it could also be the root of an alt scale that works nicely, or part of the Am blues scale.. so many options!

Fn deadly! if you didn’t like this then there’s a mental health issue with ya - actually the first version I ever heard was in a Tarrega TAB book from its author in 2010 - thereafter I only ever listened to Segovia but now I have two versions I’ll listen to only, Adams & Segovias! Thanks man

I'm sorry, I can't understand. (Using # to denote the beat on which the accent falls) at first you say that a flamenco would tell you the count is 1-2-3# 1-2#-3 1-2-3# 1-2#-3, but then you say a better way to understand the count is 12# 1-2-3# 4-5-6# 7-8# 9-10# 11-12#. However, these two ways of counting are not compatible: not only are there four accents in the first way of counting and five in the second, the accented beats in the first are 3 5 9 11, whereas they are 3 6 8 10 12 in the second.

When you listen to flamenco music with vocals, you are greeted with a much richer harmony, maybe a fretless guitar can fulfill all the needs to hear the entire extended notation range, but of course it will be insufficient in terms of tonal clarity. The main problem is that the E-F and B-C note range is squeezed between 1 fret. The instrument that can fully solve this problem can be a microtonal fretted guitar, those who are curious and want to research can search for microtonal guitar or "Tolgahan Cogulu" on youtube. Plus this guitar is the most accurate intonation guitar in the world, all mass produced guitars have inevitable intonation problems unless they have undergone a special restoration. You will find much more when you research microtonal guitars. It's not fair to harmonize flamenco music with 9 notes on the guitar. But I think it's too late to fix this problem, phrygian mode and classical guitar was the wrong choice. 😀

I know this piece from the Together album with Williams and Bream...struggled with the separate parts for years and never quite got there and here's Mr del Monte playing it as a solo...wow!!! Thanks, brilliant performance.

But A is tonic, absolute resolution. But E is treated as tonic, acting as the throughline for scale. Western scales conflate the home tone with the throughline, flamenco separates these by using the tonic dominant(?)... The 5th of the tonic?
